Change the WCSD Teacher Overage Policy

I am WCSD teacher who does not want to see this happen elsewhere in WCSD. In a previous district in which I worked, this would have never happened. It would never be an option to disrupt young peoples learning environment like this for such a petty reason (a slim 2 student margin).

It’s a huge disservice to these kids that are affected by the change of teachers.

I support this petition.

As a member of this community and school district please do not cower behind district mandates and instead approach decisions that will affect us all by engaging in a respectful discussion. The district has repeatedly left us concerned that unilateral decisions that are made are not in the best interest of the children or the community. Please work with us instead of against us to change this perception.

This is not right. I am a student at Roy Gomm in mr vs class I say we have a rite to keep mr v because you guys have chosen to take him out a month late after school has started and that’s so hard and disprespectful to mr v and 90 other people mostly kids like me. So I say that you guys are not good at making decisions and you should stop this nonsense and let Roy Gomm keep mr v !!!

Please consider what is best for the children and keep this at the forefront of decision making!

Does not make sense that following one guideline of two students under threshold but then drastically increasing second grade class sizes ( by more than 2 students) to compensate. Would think the school district would rather err on the side of being under rather than over the limits you have set.

WCSD must follow mandated statutes.. Anything less is unacceptable. Please do the right thing for our kids. Thank you.

My sons behavior and attitude towards school has significantly improved with Mr. V as his teacher. While I understand these things happen, I feel this could jeopardize his improvement and strongly dislike changes his teacher.

Please hear our voices. Moving teachers is bad for students. Education has got to come first. These little people are counting on us.

Teachers and students should not be punished due to school district errors

I am a future teacher and support this petition! Teachers who get students engaged should not be removed! There is always another way!

Though we may not be totally aware of all of the details, I strongly believe moving a teacher once kids are settled is very disruptive and at their age this could be potentially disastrous to their love of teachers and learning if they suffer a loss. Please reconsider and meet with these parents to make sure your decision is not unilateral. Thank you

Going through with this would be another egregious failure of the Washoe County School District. Now is the time to start making good decisions, one’s that positively affect our children.

This is ridiculous. Uprooting all these students and teachers because of 2 students that more than likely will show up later in the year.
