Our son is transitioning from Nixon to Haynes in the fall. Transitions are difficult for everyone, but for our little guy, it's going to be especially difficult. The day we arrived for our tour of the program, we were very nervous. While we were waiting for the team chairs, Mr Mulcahy greeted us in the lobby. He was so kind, warm and welcoming. Before we had the opportunity to get to know the wonderful teachers and team chairs our son will be with, it was Mr. Mulcahy that put our minds at ease. Knowing that he would be there as a leader, an educator and a role model made us feel confident that this was going to be the right move for our son. If he can make parents feel that way, imagine what he does for his students?!

Tough decisions regarding school resources are inevitable, but losing Scott's immeasurable positive influence on our children's development shines a harsh light on our value system, in both our educational values and in our school employment process. In the private sector, Scott would be rewarded for his countless efforts and all of the tangible successes in the areas we (as the employers) all value the most (empowered, happy, educated children). Instead our antiquated system will make this decision for us based on seniority and title?! Let's fix this before it's too late and we lose one of our best educators.

letting go on an administrator that has such a meaningful, direct, day-to-day impact on the students in a town that prides itself on it's school system is simply unacceptable.

What an amazing loss to the SPS system. Scott Mulcahy has made a difference in our schools, and has an amazing relationship with so many kids earning their trust, respect and friendship. You can't replace a gem like Scott. SPS is totally dysfunctional if they dont retain him within Sudbury. He is a faculty member our kids will remember when they are 50.

I echo all of the sentiments about Mr. Mulcahy's contributions to the Haynes community. He was my daughter's favorite part of kindergarten orientation. He sat down on the floor with all of the rising kindergartners and welcomed them each by name. It was our third orientation and the first time this was done. My son remembers winning a small Dr. Seuss contest initiated by Mr. Mulcahy and earning lunch outside with him and four other students.
It is unfathomable to me that his position is even in question in a school district that prides itself on excellence and community. These two qualities have been demonstrated by Mr. Mulcahy recognized by all of the petitioners below.
Haynes has an extensive operating budget. Additionally, Haynes parents have donated thousands upon thousands of dollars to the school to fulfill wish lists and subsidize cultural activities. We have also donated countless hours of volunteer service. We buy school supplies and pay for the school bus. How, with all of these resources, could this position be eliminated?
To loose Mr. Mulcahy, would be a detriment to our children and the Haynes community.

I don't understand why the budget cuts lead to the cancellation of Mr. Scott Mulcahy's position. Can the SPS leadership give us an explanation of the necessity of this action? Have we really explore all other possible ways to meet the budget? If Mr. Mulcahy leaves, who will do Mr. Mulcahy’s work in the future? Can we find another way to keep Mr. Scott Mulcahy? It will be a serious, long-term damage to the school if we lose an excellent, responsible educator. We will fully support the petition that we will find a way to keep Mr. Mulcahy at Haynes school.

Scott has made such an amazing (positive) difference in our Haynes community. My son will be so so bummed to not have him next year. Not having him will certainly be a huge loss for our school on many levels. I do hope that SPS will find a way to have him stay on. We need educators like him!

Scott is wonderful with our children at Haynes School and a great asset to the school and our Sudbury community. Letting him go would be a grave mistake and huge loss to Haynes , SPS system and our community. Very disappointed in this decision. We feel as if our childrens needs and parents requests are not priority... politics and $ are.

Scott has brought an incredible level of positive energy to Haynes. From tossing a football with the kids at recess to high fiving students when they arrive in the morning to elevating the 5th grade safety patrol program. He's done all this and more while still maintaining the respect of the students. Please reconsider eliminating his position at Haynes. If that is not possible, don't let him leave SPS - it would be a tremendous loss.

Though I don't know Mr. Mulcahy well, my children adore him. He has injected such a positive and fun culture to Haynes that has made school phobic children feel a little bit better about school.

Mr. Mulcahy has been such a positive addition to Haynes. Our kids love him and we are sad to see him leave Haynes, but hopefully he will not go far. His attention to the children's growth and experience would be a major loss for Sudbury.

Our family has experienced first hand the positive impact Scott has made on the Haynes community in his short time with us. I would like to believe that his skills are well known to SPS and that we will do all we can to retain him, and others impacted by these unfortunate fiscal constraints, in our community.

He is my favorite thing about Haynes and I will be heartbroken to see him go! He deserves the best and highest position he is qualified for and I would be most appreciative if my kids at Haynes could continue to have him as an asset... He is gold. Let's not let him go.
