I would absolutely LOVE to keep Mr.Albright and Ms.Walker.Im a seventh grader that has Mr.Albright and I would never give him up for the world.He's the best music teacher ever and I would be devistated if he left.I would only have one more year with him but I want everyone after me to see just how great he is for our school.Because to me,he's awesome.

As a teacher in another county, I am fully aware of the constraints of keeping a teacher due to the "magical predicted numbers" of the following school year. Is there another capacity that Mr. Albright would be willing to fill in order to fulfill a full time position? It is such a shame to let such a great teacher go who has done all that he has here in the SMS Community. Is he really the low man on the totem pole, so to speak? I get that is how the educational system works, but Mr. Albright is one of only two teachers my daughter talks about and how great of a teacher he is. Especially knowing he loves where he is, what he does, and planned to retire from this wonderful school, it is an unfitting end to it all.

Mr. Albight engages our kids in a way that many teachers cannot. He connects with them, encouraging them to take risks, try new things and positively express themselves. We will be devastated if leaves!

My children will enter SMS in the next few years, and it is imperative that music opportunities be made available to them. I expect that they will permitted to develop their talents at an age where kids are likely to drop music if not encouraged to continue. For those who don't fit with other groups, it is imperative to have music programs as a social group as well.

My children will enter SMS in the next few years, and it is imperative that music opportunities be made available to them. I expect that they will permitted to develop their talents at an age where kids are likely to drop music if not encouraged to continue. For those who don't fit with other groups, it is imperative to have music programs as a social group as well.

I made almost all of my friends from being in theatre and chorus. Music got me through bullying and taking away limiting the music program is taking away numerous student's main source of happiness at school.

Its really disheartening to hear that you think you should cut music to part time, my daughter had both of these wonderful teachers when she was at SMS and loved her time with them. Maybe you higher ups should take a pay cut or at least no raises to come up with the funds to keep them on full time. They already work for free before and after school with a full day of classes what more would you like from them...very disappointed in AACPS

Maybe you higher ups should take a pay cut or at least no raises to come up with the funds to keep them on full time. They already work for free before and after school with a full day of classes what more would you like from them...very disappointed in AACPS

As for Mr. Albright, he has a tremendous influence in keeping our children interested in music, making them WANT to wake up in the dark for early morning rehearsals, and keep them with a positive attitude about learning. Music is important. Not every student wants to take team sports for their encore class and get fussed at by the jocks. Let them learn a lifelong skill and develop friendships based on a creative and culturally enriching activity.
