These programs are key to middle school students to ground them in something that touches their heart and soul. My daughter was so impressed with the Choral program, she became very excited about attending the middle school. To think this music education is being cut at such a critical growth development stage is short sighted for the dollar savings. As a taxpayer into the system, please reconsider this option and say "No".

As a parent, south county citizen and educator I believe a music program helps students excel in the academic rigors. The program allows students to have an outlet for self expression while building the core skills needed for live long learning and coordination of time management. If the BOE chooses to make cuts maybe they should look at the BOE where some positions are nice to have, but are not vital to building the future of society.

This is very penny wise and pound foolish, those two Teachers/Positions teach much more then music/arts. It's life experiences, the beauty in being creative, why are you going backwards?????

Mr. Albright is an important element to all students at Southern Middle School. Changing his position(and losing him) will adversely effect our south county community. We as teachers are expected to be flexible and be able to differentiate. Mr. Albright is an exemplary example of helping all students. Please don't cut his position.

I have known Mr Albright for over 30 years, and you will not find a more dedicated or involved teacher anywhere. It's a shame that the administration doesn't realize the value of music and arts education.

Both Mrs. Walker and Mr. Albright have award winning music programs and losing this caliber of teaching will devastate Southern Middle Schools music program and Southern High Schools music program. By cutting their hours we most certainly will lose them to other school districts. Mr. Albright has already stated he is leaving because of this budget cut. What happens if they leave and the following year enrollment increases? These two teachers have remarkable talent and dedication which is very hard if not impossible to replace. Rebuilding the dept and luring in talented music teachers could take years. Please reconsider this cut and take the time to research and fully understand what you will be losing. I promise you that once you interview, observe, and examine their records that it will become obvious what a mistake it would be losing these two talented teachers.

Mr. Albright was my band & orchestra teacher in middle school, and I have to agree with his current students: he's one of the best teachers I ever had.

The SMS music program is outstanding. Keep these positions full-time. Give the kids a way to express themselves. Let them feel the accomplishment of putting in the extra time and their best effort forward. Keep music alive. Keep the arts in our school. Full-time . . . for a Life-time.
