Please keep music arts in our schools. In addition to all the benefits listed in this petition, I believe music helps keep people balanced mentally and emotionally. These skills will be useful forever.

I worked with Mr. Albright when I was a Special Education aide at Southern Middle School. The child I was aiding took his Box Score class and he just loved it. Mr. Albright is a wonderful teacher and has a great relationship with the students. Please keep him on full time, the childred need teachers like him to help them along in life.

Music has been a stong influence in both of my children's lives. My daughter has been fortunate to have Mr Albright and Mrs Walker during her time at SMS and her passion for music is greatly due to the outstanding teaching and programs that both Mr Albright and Mrs Walker have developed there. I am so saddened at the thought that my son may not have this same experience as he is currently in 4th grade. Reducing the music programs in our schools deprives our children from having a well rounded education that will instill in them the innovation and creativity needed in our world today.

Music is extremely important to our schools and to those kids who find it a safe haven from the things that bother them. Please keep our music program intact! It is hard to find dedicated teachers who have such a wonderful rapport with our kids. We can all agree about the academic benefits of music education, and we all know that middle school can be a trying and difficult time for some kids. Having programs with people the kids love and respect gives them an outlet, a sense of accomplishment, and entry into a group of pretty amazing kids. Research has shown that music eduction increases not only academics, but also to increase retention rates in school, decrease stress, and improve emotional development. Who doesn't want that!

Music is not just a nice thing, but a necessity for enhancing the learning program. Not all children learn the same or are motivated the same way. Studies show that music does make a difference in test scores! Life and learning are more than just test scores.

I am very dishearten to here that Mr. Albright and Mrs Walker have been reduced to part-time positions. Both are a very big part of our school. The jazz band, orchestra, concert band and chorus have won many awards. These would have not be achieved if it wasn't for the hard work and dedication that these two wonderful teachers have done. Please keep these wonderful teachers full time

Mrs. Walker is one of the biggest musical influence on my life and I believe she should not be excessed or switched to part time because she has that influence on many

As a fellow teacher, I understand the need to find and keep teachers who are able to make a positive impact in the lives of their students. Both of these teachers are needed in south county.
