Encouraging the Arts, especially music, supports academics. There is research to support this. Please reconsider.

Mr. Albright has been a shining star in the eyes of my children since they began playing instruments in Elementary school. He is a beacon of hope to them that the hours of practice have not been in vain. He is proof that if you have the desire to make music, it will all come together in Middle School. For some students, art and music is the only way that they feel comfortable expressing themselves. Not all kids are cut out for academics and athletics. It is a shame that we are showing them that we don't value their creativity by cutting the positions that would help them to thrive in these areas. We have extremely talented students who would otherwise not be able to participate in a music program like the one Mr. Albright runs. Not all parents can afford private lessons for their kids. Isn't public education supposed to educate the WHOLE child? Academically, creatively, artistically, socially and emotionally?

Mr. Albright and Ms. Walker are to many the first step in bringing fine music and community cultural enrichment to the South County.

As the accompanist at Southern, I have seen these outstanding teachers help the students grow into beautiful musicians. Mrs. Walker and Mr. Albright create a nurturing environment that welcomes all students. As musicians and educators, Mrs. Walker and Mr. Albright are invaluable part of the school!

They give their hearts to these students and go well above what their teaching duties require. It will be a sad day indeed if their job is is cut to part time and they would have to go elsewhere Please keep it a full time position for them and let's give them a raise too. They deserve it.

Mr. Albright is one of a kind. The children absolutely love him. I have a child that learned to play the violin and another learned to play the cello because of his expertise. He has greatly impacted the live of my two children.
