Mr. Albright was my middle school band teacher. Without his influence in my life, I don't believe I would be who I am today. He is an amazing teacher that deserves to be full time to share his many talents with these students and many more to come!

The arts in school are every bit as important as any other subject. For some this is their only opportunity to learn about music and to participate.

I hope the petition sends a clear message to those in charge that music is an essential part of those students' school day, that these teachers, Mr. Albright and Mrs. Walker are essential to those students. We cannot let our music programs be diminished or cut. I am sending prayers and positive thoughts that things will work out for you! Pat Bell, CBMS

Music is ESSENTIAL. Especially in the middle school years. I don't know how I could have gotten through the school days without it!!

Please don't take away time from our music programs! Our kids here in SoCo don't get as many opportunities as north counties schools as it is.

Mr. Albright was the reason my daughter continued strings from 5th grade into middle school. He met with them, spoke to them, and instructed them at the end of 5th grade and she fell instantly in love with his style, attitude, caring, and sense of humor. He is not only a wonderful teacher, but a great mentor. He has helped my daughter develop a love for music and for her instrument. She is an artist through and through from her violin to drawing and painting. Musically, she has learned more from him in almost 2 years than I did in my 7 years playing an instrument. The things she has learned are AMAZING for middle school musicians! He teaches and treats them like they play professionally. But, it doesn't stop at the instrument and music. She has learned about leadership, developed confidence and poise, and learned so much about herself. My daughter has expressed a desire to play through her college years and possibly get a scholarship based on her playing. If less attention is focused on arts and music, these students will lose out on those opportunities to others who attend schools that support and encourage the arts. Please reconsider this decision. You will be losing the best teachers Southern Middle has ever seen. Our current and future students deserve better.
