Keep Milli Hill as Keynote Speaker at Midwifery Conference

Milli Hill is an exceptional advocate for women and mothers.

Don’t erase women!!

Only women get pregnant and only women give birth. This is not a controversial or hateful view.

Milli Hill has long stood for human rights in childbirth. Her work is of great value to all.

Biology is real

I’d sign a petition not to cancel someone with whom I deeply disagree, too. Let free discussion of critical topics occur.

Men can’t get pregnant. Biology is clear. Only 2 sexes and neither can be changed. Anyone who doesn’t understand and accept these facts should not be working in healthcare of any sort, let alone midwifery.

Women give birth and breastfeed, why are women still so marginalised.

It is ridiculous to cancel Milli Hill, a respected midwife and writer, because a few people don't like her politics. Of course she knows the difference between women and men.

I do not understand this current war against women fought under the guise of exclusion which is in fact excluding a sex class that near enough makes up 50% of the world's population. Why do you want to erase women and the lived experience of women? How on earth on the 21st century, in a so called civilised democracy, is an anti scientific anti sex based rights agenda being pushed so forcefully with huge sanctions against those who dare speak out?

I have read the counter petition to this and I can see that the writers misrepresented what Milli Hill has said and are somewhat confused themselves about the difference between sex and gender identity and sexed and gendered language. I think that they would benefit from an open good-faith conversation with Milli and that perhaps if such could occur they may find a lot of common ground. I hope that the New Zealand College of Midwives is encouraged by this petition. Perhaps, given the misunderstanding evident in the petition, it would be a good thing for them to include an additional session to allow Milli to present her actual views and a conversation could ensue.

It's beggars belief that this gender ideology has infiltrated everything that should be centred on (biological) women.

It's hard to imagine ever forgiving the organisations that have the needs and interests of women as their core and defining purposes, yet who have so comprehensively failed in that purpose that they willingly embrace the misogynist notion that being a woman is not even a real, material thing. I wish she'd been my midwife rather than the ones I did have. You should be getting her in front of as many midwives as possible not deplatforming her. While Scandal after scandal emerges about how badly women in labour are treated all I see are midwives are tying themselves in knots over whether it's women who give birth. Listen to her - women want you to.

Stating facts is not transphobic, and factual sex based language is imperitive to effective midwifery.

Milli, your books are inspiring and should be read by everyone. Thanks for doing the work you do. I hope you don't think that all midwives In ANZ share the views of these few hateful and cruel people.

Silencing open discussion of the biological reality of women is the worst kind of fascism. Only dictatorships deny differing opinions.
