She should be allowed to speak the truth.

I support Milli Hill's right to speak at the conference. I do not know who she is, nor what her stance is, but I believe all people should have the right and space to be able to express their professional opinion and engage in debate/discourse; regardless of how offensive her personal beliefs are perceived to be. Offense is innately subjective. We are not children; we are mature, professional adults who are able to listen to different points of view, critically appraise the evidence, and make our own judgements and conclusions. We do not need a militant group policing the flow of information and deciding which opinions our supposedly virginal ears can (or cannot) hear. I am disheartened to witness the level of bullying within the midwifery space - it almost amounts to a witch hunt. It seems unexplainably hypocritical that the same people who would loudly champion one person's right to exist and express themselves freely, would simultaneously & aggressively attempt to cancel/silence somebody else entirely, and all due to diversity of thought. Also, I'm a pretty sure the pronoun TERF is not how Millie identifies herself.. If you are reading this and are of the same mind, perhaps an email to NZCOM in support of continuing to book a diverse range of guess speakers would be beneficial.

It’s getting so boring now. Stop deplatforming women! The women being silenced for stating biological reality are often doing brilliant work FOR women. It’s a disgrace. Keep doing what you’re doing, Milli.

Dear Rainbow Midwives Alliance, You do not achieve your objectives by being useful fools for the gender abolitionist movement. Women are not 'gender-neutral', nor are they 'vulva-havers'. Be aware that the language you use to browbeat, bully, impinge and abuse is causing huge female alienation and has split not alone feminism but also LGBTQUIA+. You need to look at why your idea of progress is regressive for women, because we are done telling you that you are skanks and misogynistic bullies xx

Milli is the reason I went on to have a 2nd child despite the birth trauma I experienced in my first birth. Having had an episiotomy carried out without being informed. I thought I would never be able to complete my family but reading millis book helped me to move past the fear. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have my wonderful youngest daughter and I'd still be extremely traumatised instead of having had the healing experience of my 2nd birth

Women’s rights and spaces are not for men.

Fully support this. As a mother with both a daughter and a son, I fully support what identity they feel comfortable with but sex is a consistent and their bodies and their life experiences are very much influenced by this.
