Keep McIver's Ladies Baths Women & Children Only

Women are entitled to single sex spaces. Taking away our single sex spaces is a human rights violation.

Anyone who opposes this ONE place for women to bathe privately is a raging misogynist and needs to be dismissed.

Women-born-women deserve at least this ONE AND ONLY space away from male bodies. Have some respect for the intention in which these baths were made.

Keep this a biological women's space only. We're the only class of people not allowed a safe space. Let this be a safe haven.

Female only

It must be recognised that this small pool has served as a safe haven, for over a century, for many women and girls who fear swimming in public places, such as rape victims, for those who have experienced sexual abuse and women whose culture places limitations on where they are allowed to swim. It will, very likely, create anxiety in victims who have come through deep trauma should this simple and inexpensive enjoyment be taken from them. The pool has been a vital part of helping women and girls to move on and swim where they feel completely safe.

Please retain this one small area that is women only. This is very important to me and other women. We deserve privacy and have the lawful right to single sex areas.

Seriously fellas - why is it so hard to allow us ladies a few spaces on planet earth where we can relax without the presence of the people who, you know, are responsible for most of the world's violence and who commit all of the rapes?

Please keep the McIvar baths open for women only! It is one of the only spaces available for women to be completely safe and free of male attention and leering. We beg you to help maintain women’s sex-based rights to separate spaces.

I support this, even though I use (and support the continued existence of) unisex pools. Not every woman is in my position, and a female-only pool caters to women who are shy, religious or have been traumatised.

Protect women's spaces.

Women need female only spaces. They're our safe haven. We already have so little, we must not allow people to take anything else from us!

This form of inclusivity creates more exclusion of women who cannot or chose not to swim with male bodied people.

It has been a safe place for me as a women to swim and connect with other women. To be able to feel body confident and not be harassed by unwanted male attention.

Seriously, one tiny space, and men are out here acting like a thing that has peacefully existed for CENTURIES is a threat to their existence.

I agree totally with the writers of this petition. There are so many other pools in which ALL people, regardless of sex are able to swim. Women born women are a group traditionally discriminated by gender rights in a strongly paternal society. Whilst women’s rights have begun to grow, there is a relentless need to preserve women only spaces, now and into the future, amidst the growing number of transgendered men identifying as women, and consuming such sacred spaces, through claiming discrimination. Please help to preserve women born women spaces by keeping Coogee beach women and children only.

The pool was also a safe place to bring Indigenous women from the Central Desert.one very hot summer when they were in Sydney. They would not have bathed at a place that was not women-only.
