Keep McIver's Ladies Baths Women & Children Only

Women should be listened to when we say we don't want men in our spaces - and yes that includes the men who demand we pretend they are women.

I support McIver’s Ladies Baths continuing to operate as a female-only swimming pool and all steps being taken to ensure any exemption from discrimination legislation is observed and extended if necessary.

This is one tiny space for women and women only - those born women (and transexuals who have fully transitioned) - amongst the vast majority of places that are mixed-sex and where some women cannot go or fear to go or would be harassed if they went. When I lived in Sydney it was my haven. It was women only, safe and and enriching space. Outside of the pool, I was never afraid of being propositioned. Inside, women were calm and respectful of women of all abilities to wade or swim. In other pools men dominated by taking over the space. Men have desired access to the ladies' baths for decades - not because they don't have their own spaces, but simply out of spite. I've mixed with modern trans rights activists (the same ones who shut down Mitch Fest in the US, who have had women-only domestic violence shelters in Canada closed, and who want to usurp women's spaces and identity. Often, their agenda is misogyny. Trans people deserve human rights and to be protected from danger. There is no debate regarding this. Non-Binary, 'self-identifying', genderqueer, agender men and every other man who falls under the increasingly diversifying trans umbrella (once restricted to those men with body dysmorphia who had a diagnosis of such and who were receiving treatment) do not need and should not have access to women's spaces. Plus, we all know that this is the thin edge of the wedge - the same men who walked into the baths and said they 'didn't know' or who came, sat down and refused to leave or who went red with male-rage when asked to leave will, we all know, now try 'but I identify as a woman' as their tactic. Fun for them, but not for the many women who have nowhere else to go because of faith, fear, or harassment. Get off women's spaces, and, more to the point, remove your feet from off our necks.

It is outrageous that women are being bullied to give up a precious space of their own which they have enjoyed for many years.

Women and children deserve a space away from males. This should not be an issue.

Women should not have to give up our hard won right to be free of male bodied people while in vulnerable situations. There is now nowhere that females can bathe free of those who possess male anatomy. Shame on you.

Please preserve a biological women only space. It is imperative for women's safety.

Men are men and Women are Women.

We need safe spaces for women and children. As a survivor of domestic violence I do not want to share Womens spaces with men, irrespective of whether or not they think they are women.

Men can go to literally any other pool - this needs to stay female only!

Women have said no. That should be enough.

Gatekeeping=Safeguarding for women and children. The safety of women and children is always more important than validating a man’s feelings.

Thecwomens pool has long been a haven for biological women and it needs to stay that way. It is already hard to find biological women only spaces without loosing another space.

Hard to believe women are still having to fight for women's only spaces after all this time - haven't we battled enough???

People with a dick are men!

Please do not bow down to the minority. Stop with this nonsense. You can be like a woman but you'll never actually biologically become one. Stop normalising this for the future generation.

Please keep women safe. We have our right to privacy from males, only predators hate boundaries.

So important for women (and children) to have their own public spaces, please keep this one

I support womens' right to safe single sex spaces.

Many of my friends want to keep the baths for women, and do not think that male bodied people should be there otherwise what is the point of having the baths at all. But they are too scared to say so because of the very real risk of loss of jobs or threats of violence or social punishment as has occurred repeatedly for anyone who opposes transgender ideologists. Many transwomen also support the baths being for women and transwomen who have transitioned, but they are also bullied into silence. The bullying must stop because it stops proper public debate and decision making about massive social changes like the loss of the baths. The bullying is so akin to male violence, irrespective of who carries it out. It is bizarre that it is used to pursuade us that women can relax as completly in environments where male bodied people as they can when they are not. At least let us be allowed a proper public debate about this, where it is safe to express your view. If I am not safe to express my view wihtout my job being at risk, how is it possible to argue that this change is supported by the community. It is not. For every signature on this, there are at least a dozen people who want to sign but are too afraid to.
