Keep Luscombe at DMCS

It’s quite humorous that one has to sign this petition in order to comment. Big time first world dilemma for those defending DMC administration. This whole situation is quite sad. As the great poet Taylor Swift once said, “Baby now we got bad blood...you know it used to be mad love...” Time to disable these comments. They’re certainly entertaining from a pure drama perspective, but quite frankly they do nothing to further the Kingdom or the mission. In fact they are doing the exact opposite. It’s certainly great to get fired up over things you’re passionate about. But if I had to guess, while the man of the hour here certainly appreciates the support, I would surmise that he also agrees that enough is enough. Get this sorted out. Voice your displeasure. Do it respectfully, ideally the actual presence of those you’re voicing the displeasure to. And above all, I implore you to not do it here. For as Jesus 1:27-28 states, “Thou shant protest thy firing via social media, but rather face to face enjoying a tall, non-fat soy latte at thine local Starbucks.” - The Bible, 2nd edition. -A MALE HUMAN (Love you, Terry!)

Mr. Luscombe is a great teacher and helped me a lot with my math. I remember many days of going in early to get extra help, and he was always available to help. He was a great encourager and example to all of his students. It is through great teachers like Mr. Luscombe, that I too chose the teaching profession. We need great educators who are awesome teachers and care about their students. I would ask the board and administration to please reconsider, and extend Mr. Luscombe's contract. It was a privilege to celebrate our 30th Reunion with him on the football field last fall! Kellee Andrews Class of 1987 (First graduating class)

If DMCS wants to claim itself to be a college prep school it should be seeking out more teachers like Clint, not asking them to go. Luscombe's classes prepared myself and many others for future college courses, even those unrelated to math. Success with him often required work to be put in outside of class, from studying out of the book, to seeking help during lunch or after school (which Luscombe was always willing to provide). Getting into these habits is something that is invaluable to any college bound student. It is extremely disheartening to see him go. Class of '15

Luscombe is a wonderful math teacher (and P.E. teacher). It takes a special person to have students going out of their way to work on math (and enjoy it) during their lunch break.

He really prepared me for my college classes and life beyond the classroom. I am thankful for the time I got to spend with him and think he would continue to have a positive impact on the lives of students if he were given the opportunity to continue teaching.

There are things I remember learning from Mr. Luscombe 10 years ago. The lessons I learned from him in life go far beyond math. He has truly blessed me.

We have heard what a wonderful teacher he is and his experience is something to be admired\respected by students and parents alike. We hope you renew his contract.

I am horrified by this news. Mr. Luscombe was one of the few high quality teachers I had during my time at DMC, and it is morally criminal to refuse to renew his contract after 30+ years of serving the DMC community. Shame on the administration.

That's not necessary. This is just mean and you should delete it.

Nah, Mike Cowell, it isn't similar to what happened to you. Mr Luscombe is actually a good teacher and good coach...

Mr. Luscombe is a fantastic builder of men. He set a standard for us, all the way back to my freshman year in the mid 80's. He was firm in his discipline (which I needed) but was always looking for a way to connect with me and help me improve in my effort and outcomes. He is a man of God who prays for his students and chose to stay with DMCS when I am sure he could have gone to a public school and been paid more and where retirement benefits would have been provided. Instead he sacrificed his opportunities for the good of DMCS and its students and families. I don't have any idea why the school feels it is time for him to leave. Maybe their reasons are real and serve a greater purpose. All I can do is ask you to believe in Clint in the same way he believed in me 30+ years ago. Thanks Mr. Luscombe for all that you have done for me and for all you have done for that school. I will be praying for you through this and ask that God puts you in a place that allows you to continue to bless others. Troy Wade

I have known Clint for a long time. He’s a good man and a good educator. Can’t believe he’s being fired but what can you expect from DMCS and it’s administration. Something similar happened to me. This school was completely different 5-10 years ago.

One example...can someone please list one example where one of these so-called "big donors" got their way with something, due to a donation or the like. I'm gonna sit back and wait....

Yes, Jeff I agree. Please leave your name or we don’t know whether to take you seriously or not. We are having a meeting later today to discuss this petition and if there are no names, we will just throw out the comments. Give us a chance to make this right by leaving your name with the comment. Anyone feeling led to comment, please leave your name. It gives credit to what you are saying. Not leaving your name is cowardly.
