Class of ‘09. Hated math... adored Mr. Luscombe. This termination is VERY unjust.

Mr Luscombe was one of those teachers who engaged with students, both in the classroom in the every day life. I learn more than math from him, and I fondly remember his quirky sense of humor and positive outlook. While math was not a favorite subject of mine, Mr Luscombe was a favorite teacher. I can't imagine why he was be terminated.

WOW! What an awful decision for the school to make. Mr. Luscombe is one of our best instructors with years of experience. He has poured his heart and soul into our students and school. It will be very difficult to fill his shoes. If the mediocrity we have shown in hiring lately is any indicator, it will be impossible to fill his shoes. I am stunned and saddened. Not an excellent move for school morale, either.

One of my absolute favorite teachers of all time. Mr. Luscombe taught me to think critically, learn diligently, and pursue God in all seasons of life. He is an incredibly insightful educator who works hard to help his students be the best they can be - I'm so grateful I had him during my time at DMC.

Mr. Luscombe is one of my favorite teachers because he really cares for his students on a personal and spiritual level, and he doesn't just let people get through his class without working. He really pushes us to try to do things on our own and to not rely totally on him.

It is disappointing to hear that DMCS has done this again to another incredible teacher. Clint Luscombe has been and will continue to be an excellent educator. He is someone that doesn’t settle for second rate assignments or study. He won’t allow students ease through his class with out learning. He may not fit the mold that DMCS administration prefers, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t making an impact for Christ. He is exactly the kind of teacher that should be at a private, Christian school; someone who holds his students accountable and loves them deeper than the surface.

I have never met a math teacher that made math as fun as Mr. Luscombe. Not only did he care about our learning, but he cared about us as people. Mr. Luscombe is the reason I am becoming a math teacher, and I still visit him at DMC. Give him another year.

Mr. Luscombe was one of the best teachers I had at Des Moines Christian School. I’m shocked and disappointed. We should be better than this.

Mr. Luscombe is an exemplary teacher that DMC is so blessed to have. He genuinely cares about each and every student and is an excellent teacher in every regard. I would be sincerely disappointed if DMC chose to let go of a teacher who has dedicated so many years to the school. Luscombe is loved by so many!

Why would you get rid of someone with so much experience and willingness to pour into kids lives? Unless you’re trying to hire someone new and pay them less....

I gotta admit. When I first started Algebra 2, I had the same mindset that so many lazy people have--that Luscombe's teaching was the reason I was struggling with the concepts. As I grew from a freshman, to a sophomore, to a junior, I realized that it wasn't Luscombe's methods that were the problem. It was my attitude and my work ethic. Being in Luscombe's class for three years taught me more than just how to find the eleventh derivative, it taught me how to be a responsible person, as well as greatly preparing me for college. I haven't been in a Luscombe class since last year, but the impact that he's had on me will definitely last a lifetime. If DMC boots Luscombe, they will not only be losing one of their greatest impactors, but one of their most talented and driven teachers as well. It would be a horrible mistake to get rid of him.
He is a really awesome teacher
