I suggest that RCA review their own mission statement : "To build, Drive and Inspire growth and excellence within Canada's rowing community" From their website. Let us not eliminate and create an unfare playing field for any student that is interested in sports period.

High school kids are still in grewing ages. Eliminate lightweight catogaries will hurt the interest on rowing of the later grewing kids. Less interest from future rowers will hurt rowing as sports.

There should be categories but coaches should not force or encourage unhealthy habits to get the athletes to get down to a certain weight.

Removing lightweight would mean that half of the potential competitors will not want to compete because there is no chance to do well.

I believe it is extremely important to keep lightweight highschool rowing. Being a 16 year old light weight girl I do not think it is fair for 125 pound girls being put up against girls who genetics have made them over 6 feet and 170lbs of pure muscle. Not once have I had to not eat or gone to extremes in order to make weight. My coaches have been extremely supportive with our lightweight girls.

Another of the many stupid ideas by RCA. Start putting the athletes first and Canadian rowing will thrive.

Weight classes allow more athletes of all sizes to compete. Coaches need to be educated to help them with nutrition and healthy choices -that’s one of the many benefits.

If it weren't for lightweight highschool rowing I would not have had the opportunity to participate in the sport. Starting at the highschool level I continued to compete at the university, and club level in the lightweight category. If it weren't for lightweight highschool rowing I wouldn't have found my love for fitness that is now a regular part of my daily routine to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. I hope that lightweight highschool rowing continues so that other athletes that are small in stature and are still developing will have a chance to participate and compete against other athletes that are similar in size to continue fair competition.

You cannot just take out 16 events. Change the weight range, not taking away opportunities for passionate athletes

Keep the 70kg class. Stop flooding the heavyweight class and discouraging the lighter kids.

This category gives kids a chance to try a great sport even though they're not as big as the kids who got an early start to puberty. Keeping lightweight rowing will also keep the participation rates high and will help kids create life long memories and friends through the sport.
