Is just nonsense, you are saying in the letter is better for students to have a late start, but yet changing their school start to start earlier than usual? Starting at 7:30am. If this goes into effect I would start looking for another 'school of choice' maybe in even other school district. Like Sweetwater or Grossmont. This is nonsense.

This decision was unfairly made with out any input from parents, teachers and is in direct opposition of the newly imposed “Healthy late start times” in the San Diego school district. We as parents want to have a say in this, it affects OUR lives personally.

We absolutely do not want this change to the start time. I am a grandparent of a student. I work full-time and help him get ready for school a few days a week. This is not a good thing for the students for the parents at home or the teachers @ ROWAN ELEMENTARY!!

This new start time will negatively affect our family. Right now my mother takes my son to school in the morning. She gets off work at 11:30pm, and it’s already very hard to get him to school at 9am. But at least it allows them enough time together in the mornings for a nice breakfast, preparing him for the day. A 7:30am start time would be very hard on both of them, and may even prevent her from taking him to school. This may force us to apply for Primetime. PLEASE reconsider how this will negatively affect families in different ways. Thank you.

This is an unfair change that should have been decided with the input of family and staff of Rowan elementary before choice deadlines. This change was not to affect elementary schools but high schools so why is our start time changing so drastically? I have two children with special needs going to Rowan it is a great school with a great community of parents and staff. I would hate for the amazing teachers and staff leave to do to this change as they are what make Rowan what it is. My son has been at this school since preschool he’ll be going into 4th grade it’ll be heartbreaking if he has to switch in the last two years of his elementary life. For him personally it’ll be a very hard change and he’ll definitely have regression issues. There are 3 special education classes at this school and many kids ride the buses to and from school it is ridiculous that the district expects preschoolers to be up and ready to catch the bus at 5am! Our children need sleep more in this early developmental years this will greatly effect attendance and focus of kids. Let alone parents work schedules. This was very poorly planned change without thoughts on how this would greatly effect families and staff.

We as parents weren't informed properly. Having a form sent home by our children is shocking. Rowan Elementary School late start time allows my kids to be able to get some more sleep in before heading to school. As a parent working two jobs, it makes things harder to come home and trying to get the kids to go to bed at a certain time, as well getting them up for school the next day. I have nieces and nephews that attends a different school with start times at 7:30 AM, which I noticed the difference energy the kids are experiencing when going to school. As of right now, my children has enough energy when coming home instead of wanting to go home to take a nap. Rowan Elementary time should stay the same at 9:00 AM, as changing it to 7:30 AM will take a toll not only parents and teachers but the students as well. So please reconsider, what you are doing to the school.
