This is not fare that we didn't get enough time with notice, its really hard for us to get to school on time with all the traffic.

We will not be able to attend Rowan Elementary if the start time changes to 7:30am. Our younger children's sleep matters just as much as any teenagers. To sacrifice the youngest and most vulnerable of our population to "accommodate" a later high school start time makes no sense. There are many ways to continue the late start elementary program without disruption. To choose 7:30 as the start time for our k-5 will cause great physical, psychological, and financial harm to staff, parents, and students alike. I feel my children are being sacrificed for a fictional "better good" but there is no logical reason to change our start time. SDUSD has a very small bussing system and I am confident we can find a way to accommodate the preschool bus program continuing at 9am instead of making these poor babies wake up at 5:30 because of district incompetence. This is cruel and will destroy our school. We have worked so hard to build a healthy and thriving school out of the ashes of what the district handed to us and now that we have finally succeeded, you are putting huge road blocks up and attempting to destroy everything we have created. This is absolutely not acceptable. I would have 4 children attending next year and because this was announced after the choice period, I will have no option but to pull them and homeschool even though that will severely compromise my already fragile health and not give the best environment for my disabled children. I view this as a denial of FAPE, as we cannot just up and move to any school with the accommodations we require. A start time no earlier than 8:30 must be restored, or my family will suffer greatly from your thoughtless decision.

We moved out of a charter we loved specifically for the late start time our kids needed.
