I support the ideas of beautifying the downtown Kentville core as presented at the April 4th Town of Kentville meeting with the exception of the bike lane on Webster Street. I cannot support removing a traffic lane on Webster Street between Cornwallis Street and Aberdeen Street to put in a bike lane. I would support the second option mentioned (although not presented at the public meeting) with the bike lane situated on Station Lane. There was some discussion during the presentation of making Kentville a destination spot for cyclists. In my opinion, by moving forward with the beautification projects on Main and Webster Streets (excluding the bike lane on Webster Street), Kentville could become a destination spot not only for cyclists but for all travellers to the Annapolis Valley. I fear that the loss of a traffic lane on Webster Street would restrict the traffic flow, and end up discouraging those whom the beautifying was trying to attract in the first place.

this is likely THE WORST idea I have heard of in a long time......... unless of course it is the intent of the committee to close down down town Kentville. Parking is almost impossible to find now as it is.....

We need some new pavement around here, but not for special bike lanes... time to get out the tar & feathers for some of these councilors! Shame on them! I'm sure there are more pressing issues for Kentville than this! What a waste of taxpayers money!

Webster Street is part of Highway 1 going west through Kentville. Do you want to frustrate all tourism, locals and Kentville business community by decreasing parking and making it even more difficult to travel through? A Bike lane can be placed elsewhere with a lot less impact to traffic. This is not Halifax!! Or turn Kernville into a ghost town!

This is not a good idea Reducing parking spots will discourage shopprrs The percentage of people who have bicycles is far less than the number of people who have cars. Shoppers with cars are likely to buy more , as they have room for parcels. Bicycles allow very little room for purchases. You can only use a bicycle about 5 months of the year. You can use a car all year long. Even if you own a bike you still need a car here. People will not come to events in town if you reduce parking. Scrap this idea!

Please do not take a lane away from Webster. Many of our customers do not want to come to Kentville now. We are moving our business out of town but I will still come to shop if I can easily get through the traffic.

This is absolutely absurd, the Mayor's Pet Project, well I say it's time to INCREASE THE "SNOW" REMOVAL BUDGET, that's a petition I'll sign, put the trail back on the railway you couldn't wait to pave over and then take a coffee and stroll through downtown and meet with the business owners, ask them what they think, may want to take some backup just in case

This is a terrible idea. Kentville already has limited space. People get confused enough driving through kentville. Dilivery trucks will have a hard time getting through and this would more then likely hold up traffic. I’m a biker myself and I think it’s a terrible idea.

I can't believe that is even thought as a good idea. Have the people that thought this up even driven on Webster St. lately. There has to be a better place to put a bike lane.

I am all for beautifying Kentville and finding an alternative route for a wonderful Bike lane that would link up with parks and shopping destinations. I am not in favour of it on Webster street where it is already difficult to find parking and conduct business. I would like to see more parking created to support our downtown businesses and help them thrive and bring the downtown area back to the buzzing area it used to be.

This idea is insane. Very inconsiderate for the local business who this could cripple, their families as well as the seniors. Parking is hard enough that business is often lost because of that.

As a lifelong resident of Kentville, I am familiar with the already congested streets and parking. I believe this proposed change would lead to more accidents and less foot traffic for local business.
