I am curious to know the Administration's reason for this decision, if it is truly against Ms. Kimball-Sherman's wishes. Why?

This whole thing reeks of retailation. What is going on in Melrose? New teachers another new principal and now this. :(

Mrs. Kimball-Sherman has had a very positive impact on my daughters progress and confidence level this year. I feel so very blessed to have such a wonderful teacher for my daughter, who by the way, absolutely adores her teacher. I have seen for myself, and heard from my daughter with a big smile and gleam in her eye, the many ways in which Joanne has contributed with her dedicated spirit! Even as she moves on to the next grade, I know how much it would break her heart to not see Mrs. Kimball-Sherman in her remaining years at Roosevelt. I am concerned as well for the example our community is setting for conflict resolution. The current paradigm in which our country operates is in need of a dramatic shift, into a more heart centered, peaceful and compassionate approach. This change begins with each one of us.

I can't believe that a teacher of the caliber of Mrs. Kimball is in the position of being let go! She is not only an amazing teacher but great lady ! I wish that we were celebrating her and not petitioning for her!

It would be a shame for Mrs. Kimball-Sherman to be transferred from the Roosevelt School community at this stage in her career. She has touched the lives and hearts of so many Roosevelt students and their families. My boys did not even have Mrs. Kimball-Sherman for a teacher, yet she knew them well, and always greeted me by name. I would love to see Mrs. Kimball-Sherman remain at Roosevelt until retirement, and get the same loving send off that Mrs. Libby and Mrs. Manning (two other class acts) received, from the community who knows her and appreciates her years of service.

In the last four years since my first son entered in kindergarten, there has been astonishing turnover of both teaching staff and administration at the Roosevelt. Looking just at K & first grade, if Ms. KS is removed, there will be only one teacher who has been at the school for more than two years. Moving Ms. KS will leave first grade with two first year teachers and one vacancy. In addition to the classroom upheaval, my children have had two different principals in four years and we are currently searching for the third. What is happening within the district to retain quality teachers and administrators? As far as I can tell, nothing.

Schools need to keep great teachers. It's a disservice to our community not to.

My grandson, who is a senior now, attended Roosevelt and had Mrs. Sherman. She was a wonderful teacher and a great friend to our family. She definitely should stay at the Roosevelt Elementary School.
