In addition, classifying horses as pets will undoubtedly clash with state laws.

It is not feasible for all equestrians to be expected to dismount, bag poo, and mount again to continue riding. It is not the same as dog poo, is a natural fertilizer, and composts more rapidly. This petition ignored physically limited riders who have a handicap making mounting and dismounting a challenge, or even an impossibility without a mounting block. It also seems that the equestrian community was not consulted in this matter, indicating a lack of knowledge about equines, equestrians, and their care.

Our horses and mules are livestock, not pets. Back Country Horsemen are significant contributors to creation and maintenance of multi-use trails and should have a voice in any discussions related to equestrian usage.

Horses are not pets. They don't live in my house. Dog poop breaks down differently and can carry bacteria that is harmful to wildlife and people. Trail maintenance is often done by teams of people with horses, mules, donkeys.

If one group of people is going to be forced to leash their dogs then all individuals with dogs should. It would also be incredibly unsafe to ride a horse while hold a leash. Unsafe for the dog, unsafe for the horse, unsafe for the rider, and unsafe for any other forest users nearby.

Look to the federal guidelines, horses are livestock. To label them as “pets” is ridiculous!

Horses are live stock. People in politics need to remember that horses and the people who enjoy them are big hearted folks who keep the trails open

Horses are livestock not pets and should be classified correctly. Dogs can be controlled without leashes. Please do not make these changes.

The trails in a Jefferson County, especially the ODT were sold and designed to include equestrians. The horse community have been a large part of acquiring funding, building, and maintaining trails in Jefferson County. To now try to make them infeasible for equestrians to use is disingenuous and wrong. I am a frequent user - as a pedestrian, cyclist, and equestrian of trails in the county and I strongly oppose the intent and result of this measure.
In addition, classifying horses as pets will undoubtedly clash with state laws.
