Horses are livestock and it is silly to reclassify them as such.

Horses are livestock. Not pets.
We have had many trails we now share with cyclist. Which is ok if they are respectful also. Please don't try to change our entire horse lifestyle.
That is one reason we live or visit here.

I oppose classifying horses as pets and requiring removal of manure. How rediculous.

Horses are livestock presently, and need to stay that way. They may need to be classified a different way.

This proposal a the epitome of absurd. Leashing dogs? How does one safely leash a dog while mounted? And the manure? Let’s solve the garbage and dog crap problem first. Horses on Oregon trails have a long history. That history includes rules while on the trail with riders and horses. This proposal would eliminate usage of the trails for equestrians, which seems to be the point.
Bicycles, dirt bikes, and heavy human traffic are far worse for Oregon trails than horses. Don’t get me started on the illegal camping and human waste and hypodermic needles. Horses are the least of your problem.

No other setting counts livestock as pets. This is a method to appease the walkers and bicyclists at the expense of a differing recreational group.

Horseback riding is an historic use of trails and oftentimes the best, or only, way for senior citizens to have access to public lands. Furthermore, unlike other species, horse manure does not contain pathogens.
