How they define a minor language is total rubbish. The UK is lacking professionals who can speak Asian languages and yet they decide to shrink that pool of talent even more. Everyone should have the right to learn freely.

I would go further and say that more non indo-european languages should be available, as the study of languages foreign to our western way of thinking are extremely valuable.

Learning other languages, especially those not related to the mother tongue, is one of the most effective ways of boosting intellect, civility and moral behaviour. Children need to raise consciousness beyond mere verbal symbolism.
Don't make our future any dumber!

Please do keep the Japanese language an integral part of the UK's A levels. Japan is a economical and cultural ally of the UK and Europe and deserves to be understood by the young people of this country. To be given a choice to learn non European languages is both constructive to our society and an investment to our children.

Keep Japanese A level (& GGSE) please. European languages only in schools may result in lack of foresight and restricted opportunities.

I am Japanese teacher. I understand Japanese is still strong not only in UK but also in the global market. Hopefully the officials keep thinking highly of Japanese lessons.

Within the UK, it strikes me that interest in Japanese culture is increasing, not decreasing. Keeping the Japanese A levels is necessary in order to maintain a strong cultural link between these two great island nations.

Any opportunities which encourage the study of a foreign language should be encouraged and supported. Many students find the study of Japanese more attractive than the more commonly available options and this choice should be encouraged.

I have been studying Japanese for last 7 years and have passed GCSE. Please do not take away the opportunity of learning the language we wish to learn.
