If we take our engagement with East Asia (and our place in the world) seriously, we need to increase opportunities for people to learn East Asian languages at all levels, rather than decrease them. Language learning may not be the only route towards that engagement, but that doesn't mean that it is dispensable.

I think many people are interested in Japan and it would be a lost to them not being able to get an A Level in Japanese.

As an emplooyer who employees many Japanese speakers it would be a significant loss to my business if this course is discontinued. A-level Japanese language is what sparks the interest of many students in Japan and all things Japanese.

As a person who is currently doing this A Level, I find it so idiotic for Edexcel to be doing this. Japanese is so amazing, yes there aren't many people doing it but the people who do are dedicated in their studies. If I couldn't do A Level I wouldn't know what to do since my dream and many others is to go to Japan.

If it wasn't for A level I wouldn't currently be sat in Sapporo studying at Hokkaido University, don't scrap this wonderful subject!

Not only for academic education, but some children with a condition of dyslexic in English find it's easy to learn Japanese. Actually, those children need more help and opportunities to learn Japanese for their future. Please do not stop A level Japanese.

I studied Japanese at A Level myself, and now use the language skills I learned everyday in my job. So I feel the Japanese A level is a great opportunity and it would be devastating to lose it!

Scrapping the Japanese A level would be a ridiculous step; the status of language education in this country is a shambles already, and with increasing levels of xenophobia we should be doing all we can to encourage the study of foreign language and culture to ensure a less ignorant society.

The proposal to scrap Japanese is bad for students and bad for the economy. Please protect language education in the UK.
