Japanese is just as important as any other language, please allow people to study it.

I think it's important to give students more options for language learning and not just European languages. There are many people who want to learn more about Japan and its culture and it should be more available to people through education

Without my school offering A-level Japanese it would have never even crossed my mind to go on and study Japanese at university. This was the best choice I have ever made as it opened my eyes to a beautiful language and allowed me to appreciate other cultures.

I've had met a good number of young people in secondary schools who are enthused by their Japanese language studies. Don't close this door to them.
Through learning Japanese young UK students will be able to have more opportunities to have closer link with Japan and Japanese people.

I was so fortunate to do AS level Japanese a year early alongside my normal GCSES at secondary school. Without it I would have been left unchallenged in the language department for an entire year and the GCSE I had done and worked hard for and the cultural exchange also done at this time to Toyota city Japan gone to waste. Don't let other people miss this amazing opportunity that I did go away:(

My daughter has taken japanese As level last week. I'm so pleased she took japanese language as A level because this was the great oppotunity for her to learn mothers tongue language also japanese culture. I strongly think it's great oppotunity for not native japanese speaker to learn japanese language through the A level exam

If I had not taken AS-Level Japanese at college, I do not think I would have been able to continue on to university level. It was a choice that I am glad I made, and one which changed my life for the best.

Japan's culture and economy are major influences in the world, and knowledge of Japanese language is a great asset. In an increasingly globalised world, the UK needs to boost language learning, not cut it by abolishing exams. The exam boards need to be supported by the government to maintain A levels and other exams in Japanese and other 'small entry' languages (which are in fact major world languages) that provide vital opportunities for students of all ages and backgrounds, including heritage language learners.

The a level was the best experience for me. It's fantastic for developing students cultural knowledge as well as their linguistic skills

Please let other people have the opportunity I wish I had. My school was too small to teach Japanese. Luckily I stuck to what I wanted and took the language at university but many of my friends didn't get a chance. Don't take that away from other people completely
