I did Japanese GCSE and A Level, and I am now doing Japanese at University. Without having done A Level, I wouldn't have been able to pursue my main passion at university. We need to give young children more options other than the standard European languages. It is essential we keep Japanese A Level

By stopping the offer of what the UK government calls 'minor languages' in which it includes Japanese, it is telling those countries that their languages and their culture are irrelevant to modern Britain. That is nonsense. For the good of its future international relations and trade, knowledge of both such languages and culture is essential - and the UK’s future is in the hands of our children. Therefore the retention of Japanese GCSE and A level as well as the other ‘minor languages’ currently offered is also essential.
