Yes I agreed that minority languages - Japanese should be supported.

Please keep the opportunity for next generation...

Couldn't agree more - fewer language options is the last thing the UK needs.

I learned English from 2003 at the British Counci in Tokyo and I was noticed that English we have learned at schools were totally American. From then, my long journey to learn British English and to know its history has bigun. This made my life more enjoyable. I want people to give a chance to know the difference and culture through language, just I have experienced. Please do not quit giving chances to young people.

Please keep Japanese in A level for the future generations who brighten the UK.

Really important to encourage cultural and economic relations with the Far East

We should give our children the opportunity and encourage the to study more languages NOT the reverse!

As a society we pride ourselves on multiculturalism and the freedom for an individual to make their own way in what they see fit, the opportunities lost for those who choose to learn japanese for whatever reason will be irreversibly tragic

I've always been impressed by the strong links between America and Japan and felt that we lack the same level of engagement. Removing Japanese A Level means fewer young people will be exposed to the language and culture and are perhaps less likely to become advocates of better cooperation between our two nations. I dearly hope Japanese A Level will continue.

Please do not terminate Japanese A level.

I did GCSE Japanese and then have taken the JLPT but I agree that this is an important way to certify language-learning ability.

The Japanese A-level (and GCSE) must be continued,. otherwise this is just another nail in the coffin for language study in the UK, especially those that are non-European.

Please continue Japanese A-level.

My son is planning to start studying GCSE Japanese from September and it is disappointing that he will not have the opportunity to take this language into the Sixth Form. I feel it is important that we encourage children to broaden their horizons beyond Europe and he has found the study of Japanese stimulating and rewarding. It has enabled him to learn a language that will let him stand out from the crowd in the future. Japan still has the world’s third largest economy and it is a major trading partner of the UK; as a country we need to make sure that we maintain our skills base, rather than let it erode. Even if it would be impractical for all pupils to be able to study a non-European language at school, it is a shame to start reducing the opportunities for children where they do exist. I understand that Ofqual’s requirements for reformed A Levels are making it difficult for exam boards to continue to provide examinations in lesser-taught languages and I ask you to find a way to make it possible for Japanese and other languages affected to continue.
