Japan is one of the leader in economy, technology, engineering and so on. Why would you stop children having the opportunity to be involved in such a great country and culture.

Having access to Japanese study at secondary school & 6th form was instrumental in determining my course of study & career progression. Japan is vitally important to the business world not to mention its rich cultural heritage.

It is shame that the language education is regarded less important as it is vital to understand their culture. Learning beyond European languages, will en-broaden children's views thus help them understand other culture in depth. Japan is still one of the largest countries beyond the Western horizon and understanding its language is very important for the UK business.

Please remain Japanese as an subject as A level. I guess Japanese learner here has decreased as Japanese economy seems weak recently. However many people in Japan respect England culture, history and launguage. By that, if British people can speak Japanese , there is a huge chance to get work there Hope you can keep as many different laungues as an part of British culture for future. Kind regards, Yoshino Inge
