It took us so long to get recycling it would be ridiculous to cut back on this service.

Irondale really take a step forward, not backward. The rest of the country knows how important recycling is to our environment. Making it easy and convenient encourages citizens to participate!

if cost is the issues, reduce garbage pickup to once per week.

When the city started the recycling program It was always with the intent to have one day garbage pick up and one day recyling pick up. Most of us who recycle have found that you do not need twice a week garbage pick up.
There is no reason for Irondale to take this step backwards. Perhaps moving to once a week garbage pickup, once a week recycling pickup would be beneficial. This should not be an issue...

I think to change the recycling program would be a disservice to Irondale and her citizens.

recycling is a money saver for the City. landfill costs are over $26 per ton. recycling g makes $2.50 per ton.. a properly managed recycling program reduces cost.

i respectfully request that the Irondale curbside recycling program be continued on a weekly basis. I would be happy to have garbage collection reduced to once per week if that is necessary to make the curbside recycling feasible financially.

It is well utilized throughout Irondale as far as I can tell. I am in the process of launching a housecleaning business in this area, and I've been all over Irondale putting out flyers, and I see recycling containers at many residences. It is important to remain a progressive force in the BHam metro area. Let's not fall back when we should be moving forward!

Irondale was late coming to curbside recycling, but it's always been the right thing to do. There's now a whole lot of recyclable refuse that's NOT going into the landfill, and that's a good thing.
Unfortunately, promotion of the service by the city has been next to nonexistent and has basically relied on word-of-mouth. If the city would promote it more visibly and more frequently, more residents would participate.
