As of August 3, 2020, the famous Harold’s Chicken Shack #55 will be moving to its new location across the Dan Ryan Expressway, next to the Shell Gas Station to merge with what was known as “Harold’s Chicken Express”. While I am grateful that they are still staying in business, I think myself along with other Harold’s Chicken patrons would love for it to stay at its current location. I am asking Mayor Lori Lightfoot to please step in and help us keep Harold’s at this location. I personally have been going to this particular Harold’s since I was a child, and it is definitely a pillar in the Chatham/Gresham community. I would even go as far to say that it should be recognized as a Historic Landmark.

I was just driving past the shop today and honestly it just hit me all over again that this whole corner could really lose its soul if they pack up and move. People have been messaging me non-stop with their own memories of getting lunch there after school or on weekends and honestly it makes me feel like we are fighting for a piece of our history that no one else seems to value as much as we do.

Just give the man his chicken and everything will be ok. Please grant his request to allow the chicken joint to stay, please and thanks!

it's been there for years and it's way safer for customers where it is than by the gas station.
