I can’t say I know many details about the situation itself, but from the little information I’ve seen and as an theatre educator, I am shocked and sickened by how their admin can toss aside someone who has clearly built an extremely successful program rather than do what they should, which is everything in their power to actually support their teachers and the arts when they need them the most. Again, I don’t know everything about the situation so maybe I am missing something here, but the fact I’m finding out about what seems to be a major situation through this petition and a few Facebook posts and not through news outlets is extremely sad. This is someone who has made a name for North Lincoln in the high school theatre arts community in and around the Charlotte area. My kids are always so impressed by what they do and are excited for their success, but once again, it’s administration and county level individuals trying to take that away. It’s unacceptable. I feel so sad for these kids, not only because they now have to prepare for a big event without their leader, but because many of them have now lost the person who was more than likely the teacher who they considered their safe space and confidant. Kids need the arts. It’s amazing to see such a dedicated community come together in support of this teacher and her program! Please continue to use your voice in support of arts programs!

Hannah is a fantastic teacher and director! Please understand the importance of arts in high school and specifically the role that Hannah plays in making these opportunities for students possible! Lincoln County Schools would be suffering a huge loss if they fail to reinstate Hannah.

It is so sad to things like this happening. Lincoln County has had such a bad reputation for years in terms of the arts and support for students (that are not in sports, at least). It seems like things have not improved.

It is hard to believe a teacher would be terminated after building such an amazing program with no support from the administration. If there was a problem with "bookkeeping", then that is the fault of the administration for not teaching, mentoring, and working with the teacher.

I have seen 3 plays that she directed and put together. What a wonderful program Ms Pratt has put together at NLHS. I would highly recommend that her contract be renewed.

An award winning theater teacher, invested in her students, transforming the program and making a difference for these kids and the community, should never be fired.

I have never seen better high school drama productions than at Lincolnton High. Hannah has done an amazing job and those students deserve the best! Drama is a great way for students to stay busy and off electronics. It’s a way for them to become apart of something bigger than just a sports team. It’s a great outlet for other things going on in their life. Hannah does the best productions at the school and I could praise her more for all she puts into the students! Please keep her and the arts in the school!

Unacceptable. Give the theater department and teacher the credit and respect the teacher who has been putting in WORK for so many years. Create better systems, train the staff and move on.

Hannah Pratt is one of the most talented, hard-working Theatre Arts educators I’ve met. Her dedication to her role at North Lincoln High School is unparalleled. Anyone who has seen a North Lincoln production has witnessed the level of excellence that results from the culture and education Hannah provides. Since Hannah has been instructor, North Lincoln’s theatre program has been recognized and awarded on numerous occasions and her students leave her program prepared not only for college, but for professional collaboration. More importantly, Hannah provides a safe space for students of all backgrounds/walks of life to express themselves, feel seen, and learn truly what it means to work as a team for a common goal. To remove her from this position would be completely counterintuitive to the longevity of this program, the morale of the students who’ve been so dedicated to it, and possibly students’ future careers. I hope Lincoln County Schools will take this and every statement in the petition very seriously as they move forward.
Sincerely,
Chris Lockman

Hannah Pratt is unequivocally one of the finest teachers in not only NLHS, but in the entire system. She gives her all to her students and in turn, they give there all for her. As is evident in the success of drama program at NLHS.

Hannah is an incredible teacher who has a passion and dedication to NLHS, the arts and the students. She has turned that program into a powerhouse and to not renew her contract is a disservice to not only the arts in this county but more importantly the students.
