Keep Hannah Pratt at NLHS as the Theatre Arts teacher!

Seriously!?!? She just won the entire Blumeys awards for your school and you would think about letting this program collapse. Get smart, fund Arts.

It is astonishing how quickly this program has grown to become a regional powerhouse. I hope that the system will give her the benefit of the doubt and understand what I believe could only be good intentions, providing the help and support needed. I hope that having a strong theatre program and continuing this program will be a priority.

Stop firing good teachers for conservative, judgy reasons. The far right sect of NC is ruining public education, and destroying the arts programs.

Kids needs the arts. Please stop focusing on teaching them to simply pass tests. Save this job!! It is every bit as vital.

Hannah is an exceptional educator and theatre artist whose impact on her students and community is undeniable. The love and support surrounding her speak volumes about the environment she has created at NLHS and beyond. While the numerous awards received under her leadership are impressive (VERY impressive), the true success of the program is reflected in her students, who clearly feel supported, inspired, and valued by her leadership. I, and hundreds of others (including students, alumni, parents, colleagues, and community members), encourage the leaders who make these decisions to see the support surrounding Hannah. It is undeniable and concrete.

As an alumni of North Lincoln, I can confidently say that Ms. Pratt changed the course of my life. She inspired me to discover my passion for theatre, and because of the impact she had on me, I am now pursuing a degree in theatre education. Her influence reaches far beyond the stage — she has built a program that shapes students into confident leaders, artists, and compassionate people. Because of her dedication, our theatre department has provided opportunities that many high school students never get to experience. The The Blumey Awards are an incredibly prestigious opportunity in student theatre, and through her leadership, North Lincoln students have been recognized on that stage. I was honored to receive a top six Best Actress nomination at last years Blumey Awards, and that is a moment I will always carry with me. Ms. Pratt made those kinds of achievements possible by believing in her students and pushing us to reach our highest potential. She taught me leadership skills that continue to impact me today, but even more than that, she gave me a place where I truly belonged. I participated in several sports at North, but I never found anything that compared to the sense of community within the drama club. The friendships I made there were unlike anything else, and because of that environment, I chose to leave sports and dedicate myself fully to theatre. What makes her impact even more obvious is that many students have actually transferred to North Lincoln specifically because of the theatre department, and even more specifically because they wanted the chance to learn from Hannah Pratt. That speaks volumes about the reputation she has built and the kind of educator she is. She is not just a teacher — she is the heart of a program that has transformed lives. Losing her would mean losing someone who has inspired countless students, including me, to find our passion, our voice, and our future.

She has done such amazing work!

Kids need the arts to be expressive! For many it is also their only safe space and their “home away from home.” Please keep this in mind when discussing the hopeful renewal of Hannah’s contract. :)

Please support these kids and their director!

Please don't take Ms. Pratt away from these students or this high school. At LEAST let her be a part of the Blumeys and graduation. You are punishing the students and have the ability to make these exceptions and are choosing not to!

Hannah has done amazing things in the NLHS theatre department. The arts are SO fundamentally important to students' growth and development. Theatre teaches collaboration, hard work--you have NO idea how much unless you have done it, communication, confidence, expanding your perspective and learning from other views, technical skills such as sewing, craftsmanship, lighting and sound design, construction, singing, acting and dancing! Even if students do not pursue the arts as careers, it cannot be stated enough how much theatre and the arts helps children, teens AND adults grow as people. Please continue to support this incredible opportunity for students in Lincoln County Schools.

Since all of you apparently refuse to respond to parent emails let me just document here: The manner in which Mr. V has handled this entire matter evidences his lack of interest not only for the arts at NLHS, but clearly a targeted vendetta against Ms. Pratt; and the true victims here are the students. He parades in front of the students claiming that he cares and yet evidenced zero knowledge of even the most basic elements of their program and only now shows his face at their performance because the parents are demanding answers. His failure to communicate, including initially failing to even acknowledge emails sent by both students and parents within the first two weeks of her removal evidences a lack a professional discernment that should be reviewed by the BOE. He has been formally documented saying one thing to the students and then saying something different to the parents (technology is an amazing thing…). He talks out of both sides of his mouth in an effort to try to redirect the story and takes ZERO accountability for his own hand in this matter. However, it is clear the true concern here is whether he, the superintendent, and now possibly the Board of Education is acting in a way that is discriminatory. Ms. Pratt is being held to different standards than prior teachers at NLHS and current coaches at NLHS. You may elect to take Ms. Pratt away, but the inconsistency in the manner of which Mr. V is holding individuals accountable, and letting male counterparts, especially coaches engage in the same alleged behavior with no accountability, will not be swept under the rug. There’s no sense to even argue how phenomenal Ms. Pratt is as the overall success at both NCTC and the Blumeys (year-over-year) is evidence enough. The reality is, you all don’t care about what is best for the students or at minimum, Mr. V would’ve waited to the end of the academic year to engage in such despicable formalities. I've never had the pleasure of being Hannah's student, BUT..She directed a phenomenal show I did at a community theatre and it was such a positive and memorable experience. I have watched several shows she's directed at NLHS and they were beyond amazing. You can really see how much she loves her job and nobody deserves this more than her.

As a parent of a theater arts educator at the college in the Charlotte, North Carolina area~ we have watched over the years, in her career how vital it is to make the theater arts realm, in education on the local and regional level~ a safe and inviting place for all ~no matter what,or who you are…
