Really a step backward- I have always spoken proudly of our council and its focus on accessibility for all in recycling. Dumped mattresses are an example of people unable to afford disposal costs - charging for green waste doesn’t encourage clean up of yards and people will either burn off or leave to be a fire danger - short sighted in the extreme

We live in Honour Avenue, Macedon area. That means we put up for a month with tourists, street congestion, litter, illegal parking and trespassing and now Council, whom promote the Autumn Festival, also want to charge us to clean up after the show is over. For us that is easily 15+ trailer loads. Beggars belief. Watch the illegal road side dumping and smoke haze escalate. So much for being a "green" council.
Not withstanding everything stated above, I do believe the petition page is wrong regarding charges. I was advised it was $20 per cubic metre with a standard 6x 4 trailer without cage therefor costing $13.80. I strongly recommend petition organiser confirms charges otherwise validity of petition is substantially undermined.

We do not want people dumping green waste in our bush lands creating a fire hazard over the summer periods. We need to encourage people to do the right thing and keep it free to the rate payer.

We love living in a rural environment and take pride in our garden. The free green waste is invaluable to our family and as there is no hard rubbish collection in the area it is a positive initiative of council.

If green waste incurs a cost to take to the tip then there will be less incentive to clear up surrounding areas impacting greatly on the build up of fuel for the coming summer period. Also, people will just dump in creeks etc which will negatively impact on the environment.

It’s absolutely irresponsible charging for green waste, especially in an area like ours that’s vulnerable and prone to bushfires. The $$ you get charging for green waste is going to feel like chump change when lives are on the line due to such irresponsible decision making.

It is vitality important that ratepayers are encouraged to keep clean blocks and manage foliage. If you put a cost on green waste to tip many people will either burn off or not keep their gardens fire safe- we live in high fire zone so this is crucial
