Keep green waste free in the Macedon Ranges

And no word of prices? Just like last time, great waste of money and resources when they change it back or print vouchers that are then not used.

I will have to resort to burning as we are on 4 acres with heaps of leaves so to avoid taking to the tip and costing me a fortune I will have to burn which will create more smoke. We are very conscious of fire season and do our best not to have fire starters on the ground! We are not allowed to burn during fire season either so we pray a fire doesn’t come through!

Another example of no consultation! Start charging for the mulch perhaps?

Rubbish dumping on the roads will go through the roof especially in these tough times. Maybe not put walking paths in from woodend to romsey to save on your money

Highly disappointed in this change with no consultation of residents prior. We pay more and more rates every year with less and less to show for it. MRSC should be ashamed.

Cannot understand the rationale for charging for the disposal of green waste. Already, we pay significant council rates for little return.

This flies in the face of MRSC green credentials and was one of the last remaining differences that separated it from metropolitan councils. Instead of priding itself on offering services that recognise the unique environment that we enjoy in the Macedon Ranges, the council has taken a very narrow approach. One wonders if the real motive is to reduce the huge piles of green waste that could be seen, every time you visit a transfer station. Whatever the motive, it appears none or little consideration/risk assessment has been given to both the environmental and fire risk effects of the decision.

I endorse all the points made in the Midland Express newspaper article. I have established a significant garden and I rely on the Green Waste facility to maintain it responsibly. The greening of our townships is a two way partnership.

I would rather see our fallen tree branches turned into useful mulch for community use than have to burn them off.

Councils should focus on the main responsibilities councils are there for.

I am a normal houseblock owner. Residents should be encouraged to clear their properties of greenwaste & not have to pay to do this. I understand Transfer Stations charge for mulch that comes from greenwaste dispisal

You shouldn't charge for green waste. All it does is encourage illegal dumping.

Those of us who live just out of Kyneton get nothing for our rates. The Western Suburbs of Melbourne increased their tipping fees and now rubbish dumping on the side of road occurs on deserted roads which will cost council much more to clean up than anything gained. As for the co-mingled recycling, it is us the residents who go to the transfer station sort out the different recycling at no cost or labour by the council officers in charge there, otherwise it goes to landfill which will cost the council even more.

Absolute disgrace, no consultation with the community. Our rates pay for this. Shame on the council to do this. The residents can not afford this, and it will promote illegal dumping of green waste in the back roads of the Macedon Rangers. Please redact this outrages change.

If this is passed, I will opt for a backyard bonfire or installing an incinerator.

Surely we should be able to continue to produce mulch out of this green waste. People will dump this waste in the bush if you charge them which will fuel bush fires
