I spent 4 years in the German program at CR South (class of 2006), including the exchange program which offered me valuable insight and world knowledge I would not have had an opportunity to receive anywhere else. I continued my German education into my college career.
I not only made friends and learned to appreciate another culture, I find practical applications for my knowledge of the German language in my career on a near-daily basis. I frequently work with international business partners, and while most non-English-speaking partners must be delegated to a region-specific representative, I'm able to engage German speakers directly - a benefit they greatly appreciate.
I will never forget the time I spent in Germany, nor the fantastic education I received from Herr Harvey, Frau Warg, and Herr Brunnett. Please do not take this program and the enrichment it offers away from the kids.

I have two daughters who are students at CR South. German language provides a diversity for the students that they won't get elsewhere.

Please make sure to note whether you are a CR resident and whether you have school age children that are currently, and even more importantly plan on, taking German

The Council Rock German program was a highlight of my high school years, which led to a love of different cultures that has carried into my adult life. Nearly 18 years after taking my first German course, I am currently living abroad, studying, and traveling, with a heightened appreciation, thanks to my early language education in CR. I sincerely hope the school board and administrators will listen to the voices of those directly influenced by the German program and keep the opportunity available for future students in the District.

I agree with the comment from my daughter Jacqueline Campbell. The German Language program as with all languages expands a students knowledge of another culture. I support keeping the German language program at Council Rock. We moved into this district to provide our children a well rounded educational experience which includes language and culture. Do not short change future student the opportunities afforded to my children while they attended Council Rock.
Thank you

I loved my German classes I took (I went up to AP German)! I even went abroad to Germany and had the best experience. I made life long friends and I am still in contact with my foreign exchange student Charlotte. She just recently attended my wedding in the states! I couldn't have imagined not taking German and having that experience.

The CRSD German program, particularly the cultural exchange component, should be a source of pride for the district and its students. Please continue to offer this opportunity for students!

Many wonderful experiences because of german, it would be a terrible shame if they dropped this program. Only program in the district that gives students every year the opportunity to experience other cultures first hand.

The German program at CR inspired my brother to be a German teacher. My family’s lineage is Irish and Italian, so the German program at CR is 100% responsible for leading my brother on the path to become the successful teacher and coach that he is today. The program provided him with many opportunities and opened many doors. Because of the program, he studied German in college and obtained a master’s degree in German language and literature. Learning German also offers opportunities for careers in other industries. As an attorney, I am always seeing job opportunities and projects that require the ability to read and interpret documents from German companies. I cannot understand why CR wants to eliminate an opportunity for its students to be successful, to decrease the quality of its education, and to lose its competitive advantage on a local and national level.

The people I have met through the German department make up the strongest alumni group I keep in contact with from Council Rock. This department attracts and develops some of the most enthusiastic students for learning an important foreign language, and can be credited with creating multitudes of more worldly, open-minded and informed people.

The linguistic and cultural grounding in German I received from Council Rock has been instrumental in pursuing my interests in history and philosophy, both at the undergraduate level and as a PhD student at Columbia University. Going to Germany in 1996 as a part of the exchange was a formative experience in my high school career, It would be a great loss for Council Rock students if the opportunity to study German language and culture provided by the exchange program and German classes were removed as an option in the curriculum.

Same thing happened in Central Bucks. Administrators continue to operate like CEOs looking at current year only rather than the long term inpact of decisions.
