I love taking French class and I am certain that it is a language vital to the world. French is a very influential and important international language, and taking away the privilige of learning this language from the Board of Education's students, that rely on the system in order to be prepared for the real world should be considered a crime! It is disgraceful for the Board of Education to remove this important language from the school algorythm. We, the students deserve to learn the language that will likely be very vital in our future. All of us French students enjoy the subject and learning French. It is utterly disrespecful to all the students seeking to learn more if the Board proceeds and removes french from the School system.

French is an important language. Students who already speak Spanish at home, benefit from having other options. Students who are interested in international law and diplomacy would want French as an option. When my children attended school I was always impressed that the BH school system offered a wide selection of unique courses. My children chose different languages to study in high school. I believe that having both Spanish and French in the middle school led them to consider other options.

My daughter is the beneficiary of a French education at a private school. She is fluent and able to travel and do scientific research in Cameroon. Were it not for her French speaking, she would not have this opportunity. French is a language that is spoken in many countries and businesses. It would be a shame to lose the opportunity for public school students to learn French that live in a city so close to Manhattan where world languages are spoken everyday. There are many immigrants that benefit from bilingual abilities that are in jobs because they are bilingual or multilingual. The United States has to keep up with this in order to keep our students competitive. Many French companies exist in New Jersey where French is an important part of the business. Please consider this when making this decision and keep the a French program at GL.

I don’t take French but it doesn’t need to be shut down! Keep it at CMS and GL.

French is an important part of our language. Had I learned French, I would have been able to understand more words as phrases that English has adopted. French in Berkeley Heights schools would make a trip up to Quebec more meaningful to families that want a little taste of France, but can't go all the way to Europe. The District should reconsider it's decision to remove French. Westfield has a part time French teacher. At least accommodate students who want to continue. Have interest/enrollment numbers for 5th through 10th grade been shared?
