Keep French at BHPS

You must maintain the knowledge of French for students, please.

This is is an AMAZING teacher who keeps her students engaged and enthusiastic about learning the french language as well as learning about the people who speak this BEAUTIFUL language. She goes over and above what it means to be a GREAT teacher through her French Club, and through the field trips she organizes that give her students the opportunity to see what life is like outside of their NJ community!!!

As a retired college professor, who took many French classes which our students benefitted from, our students should have the opportunity of learning French and other foreign languages. You do a disservice to our students to limit their ability to learn French. There are funds available for other programs that the Council has approved, our taxes have increased and grants have been given. I suggest the council take another look at the benefits our students will have when they learn a second language.

Mrs. Combe is the best and goes above and beyond as a teacher. Please don’t take away our French program!

The decision to remove French from the curriculum is a mistake. It should be restored as a world language option immediately!

This is something that should be discussed through the boe during the budget adoption process. With an increase in budget how does this happen, unacceptable.

We need to keep French for my sister so she can accomplish her dream of speaking French.

Please keep French language as an option. Of the 3 available languages, Italian and French is head to head as for current students (13% each in GLHS) and cutting it for "lack of interest" is not justified. There is interest and it should be supported. Education opportunities is not where the school should be trying to save money.

This isn’t right there are people that already dedicated time to learning this language and will have to drop it and learn something and they will be behind everyone else.

We need French.

I don't speak or take french

Of course, one of the few classes I actually like, and they are getting rid of it. My grandmother took French, my mother took French, my siblings took French, and I want to speak French as well. Sadly, I may not be able to continue to learn as well as I used to. Sure, I can take online classes, but I would not get nearly enough time to practice as I would in an actual French class. In some places of Canada, our neighbors to the North, they speak French, and in Mexico, our neighbors to the South, they speak Spanish. Fair enough, we can keep Spanish, but why in God's name do we need to keep Italian? France is the first most visited country, while Italy is the third. We are more likely to visit France than Italy. So why are we given the option to learn Italian? I understand how some may want to take Italian, so, fine, we can keep it, but at least hire a sub to take the position of the GL French teacher until we find another one. If you are going to get rid of a language, get rid of Italian. All of the students who worked so hard to learn French are going to have to put extra work into learning an entirely different language, only adding to the stress some people face. I doubt we will be able to fix this, but hey. It couldn't hurt to try. Please, keep French.

If there is enough student interest at CMS and GL, then we should keep French. I did not see any information leading up to this decision to warrant this decision. I would like to see the information available that supports cutting French.
