I lived in Gaston county for several years. It certainly was NOT lacking big box stores and parking lots. Keeping/adding more green space and wildlife preserves would make it a more desirable place to live/work/play.
More trees, less asphalt.

This buffer / Green space is absolutely necessary for maintaining the health of surrounding neighborhoods. There has been enough growth in this area. It is time to look at the big picture and secure the future of the surrounding residential properties.

I grew up in 348 Club Drive, that big field was my back yard and playground. Sacred green space, keep it green and beautiful!

The council is correct to postpone if you do not have all the facts. Fema reports, results of city re flooding. I was appalled to see that the person given this task was giving an oral report at the meeting.

The Lineberger's are being spiteful
When they say even without being allowed to develop they are going to clear cut. Trees may be harvested in an environmentally responsible way without clear cutting.

When Franklin Square first went in and the trees were cut in order to build, we in Gardner Park have had increasing noise levels particularly at night. In the summers there is usually an outdoor band of some sort playing and we can clearly hear the traffic on I-85. I can't see increasing this by cutting more trees which tend to muffle the sound. I also can't imagine the increase in traffic along Wilkinson Blvd. that this would produce. Please keep this area green!

Friends of Gaston County… We have to stand up to the development of the woods across from Franklin Square!! We have enough retail space in Gastonia and tons of commercial space that is empty!!! I oppose - strongly oppose - the development of the land across from Franklin Square. I don't live in Gardner Park (which is the neighborhood that would be directly affected by having the woods removed from the backs of their houses) but I definitely would not want someone taking the woods out of my backyard and exposing me to increased light pollution, increased noise pollution and increased flood potential. I stand on their behalf and I say "no" to the development of Franklin Woods. As a citizen of Gaston County, I am also standing up against this development and saying "no" because we need to save the tree canopy in Gaston County. Part of what makes Gastonia beautiful is all of the trees that are still there, and unfortunately I see them being destroyed at an alarming pace!! If we get rid of all the trees we will be sorry sooner or later. #saveFranklinwoods #leavenaturealone #dontmesswithmothernature #keepGastoniabeautiful #standupforthetrees #gomakeoverakerscenterinstead

The trees filter the exhaust and carbon dioxide also keeps earth in place with roots. Also habitat for wildlife and they are a nice view. There are plenty of commercial property across the street of every size open for use. Then there are flooding issues and property values falling. I can't think of a good reason for this construction.
