My daughter loves going to Duncan. It's where she met all of her friends and where she can see her friends during school hours. It is also a good walking distance for those of us who only have one vehicle for the household.

We already picked our house up and moved on our own dime due to being in a horrible school in this school system. Finally our child is in a great school and now you want to pull this. Really start thinking about what is good for our children and not your pocketbook. It is beyond time for KISD to think about our children and put them first. This affects all of us some us are only one car families and car pull is not a choice. Ask yourself do you car pull to work or better yet does your child? What would happen if your family owned one car and had no way to get to your child in an emergency because your spouse was at work? What you are doing is pure selfishness all in the name of saving money. No thought was truly put in to rezoning. Rezoning on post shouldn't even be considered especially since some of us live because of needing walking distance.

It's bad enough that many of these children have to change schools when their parents are transferred to another duty station. But to close a school and transfer them to another is completely unnecessary.

The closing of Duncan is more that just an inconvenience. It will mean extra time away from home for our still young elementary school age children. Less time for homework, extracurricular activities and family. The wiser choice would be to completely rezone all the schools and keep children at their local elementary school rather than busing them to the farthest possible school from their home.

Please you cannot just down duncan, for the first time in many years my children actually want to go to school. They love the teachers and staff, my daughters grades and my son's have soared. Shutting down this school is going to make a major impact on alot of children.

This not only inpacts a lot of family that have one car but in inpacks my child who have some changes and me not being able to get to tje school if I get a call know my husband has the car and cant leave work all the time.

Please keep the school open. My Grandchildren go to this school and changing schools often is very hard on military children. Every few years they are forced to be the 'new kid' so closing their school just adds more stress to their year, and puts them at a disadvantage again. Especially if it can be avoided, since they are not moving to another base.

On my way of dropping my daughter off and picking her up, I see many mothers whom have to walk their children to and from school. Many families only have one car. Moving schools will cause issues getting children to and from there on time.
What do they do if the child is sick and father is out for a training during that time or something unexpected comes up, rely on friends always? I don't thing that rezoning is a good idea.

At least think about changing Duncan to 4th and 5th grade school for all the comanche kids. We chose to live on post so our kids can be in school within walking distance. I see many parents moving off post or even homeschooling!

Moving children in their last year at a school into a new school all the way across post is a horrible idea. Having multiple children in elementary school what times will the children be getting off the same time as the others? Travel to and from the school is incredibly inconvenient. Most people in the school zones picked their housing with the proximity of the school for their children to attend. Carpooling while sounds like a great idea isn't always a possibility even less now that the grades moving will be only 4th and 5th.
