Final supporters
Dr. Petrucci is a biochemist who teaches several courses at Utah Valley University (UVU). Recently, I found out UVU will not be renewing his contract, and Spring 2017 will be his final semester under his current contract.
Dr. Petrucci has been a great mentor to me and has encouraged me in my education and career path. He gave me the opportunity to do meaningful research in my desired field. He listened to my suggestions and helped me develop ideas I had for the projects future. I know many other students who have had similar experiences with Dr. Petrucci.
Universities need more teachers like Dr. Petrucci. He cares about his students success and that they are learning real world skills. He goes above and beyond for his students to help answer questions and creates an environment where learning comes naturally.
It is a big mistake for UVU to lose such a teacher. It is an even bigger mistake to deny the students such a dedicated mentor.

Seeing the outpouring of support for Dr. Petrucci confirms exactly what I felt when I started this. It is clear that I am not the only student whose life and career path were changed because he pushed us to be better.

I have been reading through the comments from other students who felt the exact same support from Dr. Petrucci during their own time in the lab. It is clear that we are not the only ones who see the value of his mentorship and his dedication to our future careers.

I have had a full load this semester taking 17 credits, getting married, volunteering outside of school and working two jobs. There were a lot of times that I was not able to be in class or make it for the in class exams. Dr. Petrucci was very understanding and would take the time to meet with me in his office even if it was outside of his office hours. It is easy to tell that he is passionate about helping students, this is hard to find with a lot of professors. I have loved having him as a professor.
Dr. Petrucci greatly influenced me to pursue a PhD. I'm starting a program in the fall due to him. I loved his classes and lab. I learned so much from them. You could tell that he actually cared about the students and their success. It is shameful they are letting him go.
Because of his willingness to help me throughout the semester, I was able to bring my grade of from a 50% at the beginning of the semester to a 91% before the final exam without a curve, and without handing out points. I have never been able to do this with other professors, and I think that his teaching methods are perfect for what UVU stands for. He allows everyone to gather their own education, do their own research, and learn their own material without compromising the class and its overall education.
I graduated from another university and am now back in school. The approach that Dr Petrucci takes in teaching had me regretting my previous choice of university. The way he educates, communicates with, and supports his students is unique in my educational experience and truthfully excellent. He is also constantly trying to make improvements and help his students. I have no idea why UVU would want to let a educator like that go.
Professor Petrucci is one of Utah Valley University's greatest assets. His knowledge, teaching style, and rapport with students is crucial the the learning environment at UVU. I consider Dr. Petrucci to be a mentor and someone I aspire to be like in my professional carrier. Why on earth would UVU let a great researcher and educator go, like Dr. Petrucci?
Dr. Petrucci has been a wonderful teacher and has made his best effort to reach out and help all of us students.

It's a shame to let Dr. petrucci go. The only disservice uvu is doing is to themselves. For the first time I felt I understood and excelled in my chem lab . Dr. Petrucci took the time to explain and go over core concepts when professors in the past just give us the lab assignment for the day an disappear behind their desk. He walked around, asked questions to help you think through what was happening in your experiment . Wherever he goes , that place will be better for it.
