Dulles high school is planning on removing Power Hour, an hour long lunch. Due to the school saying not enough students attending tutorials. Although people do use the time to go to tutorials and to work on homework, study for upcoming tests, and eating lunch while getting a break from the stress. Without this, students grades will drop due to students not having after school transportation for tutorials, having after school jobs causing less time for homework, or needing to care for younger siblings. Some students only eat during school lunch and when there’s not enough time to eat and do other tasks, they go to class hungry and unfocused. Please sign and spread this petition to help keep power hour.

This serves kids that would not have to opportunity for before or after school tutoring without. Think about who your job serves...the children.
This service has been indispensable for my freshman. I hope the school administration recognizes the disadvantage that many students will incur if power hour is removed, and will reconsider the shortsighted suggestion to eliminate this opportunity for tutorials, etc.
I actually use power hour to tackle homework that would keep me up extremely late. Especially when I have volleyball games, extended practice, or orchestra concerts!
The Power Hour lunch is appropriate for high school students for the development of responsibility. Other schools do this successfully. The change that needs to be made here is in the campus implementation, not the hour itself.
Please keep this open for our students. Many need this time for tutorials, regrouo, homework etc. Our teachers benefot from this as well. Please talk to Kempner HS who has also implemented this siccessfully.

Power hour has been a very important factor in my sons academic success. His busy schedule leave very little time for after school study. Power hour helps to fill that void.
