It seems like Dehart was the only coach putting time in with these kids. Fire him and now have to shut done weight lifting because no one else will put the time in? Where's the AD on this? The Principle? Is anyone going to step up for this man? For these kids?

That is no reason to get rid of the coach that was doing so well.

Shutting down football activities just shows how much time Coach DeHart dedicated to the program and to the players. No one even comes close to the time, effort and energy that DeHart gave. It just shows how much of a drop off KW Football is about to have without DeHart at the helm.

At the very least, a reason should be given why they just decided to shut down the whole program! KW FB played a vital role in developing me to the man I am today. I'd at least like to know the reason why it's been decided that future young men should be deprived of this opportunity.

I have grown up knowing Coach Dehart. He is a hardworking dedicated individual and works tirelessly for his team. I believe he deserves to be put back into his position.

I think it’s about time for the school to address the situation. The only ones suffering from all of this are the children. Taking what they love away because of poor planing is not their fault. You’d think when all this county has going for them is the football team, you would be more inclined to look out for the best interest of the children. You mean to tell me no other person could supervise their workouts?

If only you knew the hours and dedication he put in to those players' success.

Show Coach DeHart support by showing up to the School Board Meeting on Tuesday, February 18 from 6pm.

1000 signatures in 24 hours and still no response from the school board. You would think that someone that dedicated the better part of the last decade doing all that this man has done would be atleast be owed an explanation. "Notice is hereby given that the School Board of King William County will have a public comment period prior to its regular School Board Meeting on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. to receive input regarding the King William High School football coaching position per policy BDDH-R (Guidelines for Public Comment Before the King William County School Board.) The public comment period will be limited to 30 minutes. Closed session will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please note this change."

Earlier this week, Coach DeHart talked extensively about his enthusiasm for the upcoming year. He spoke of his returning players, and the optimism of building on their recent success. A few days later he found out, that not only he was dismissed from head Coaching duties, but that the program was suspended. I pray this decision was in the “Best Interest” of the students and not for a political reason. The latter would demonstrate, to this generation of Children, that the powers that be, DO NOT have their interests in mind, but only their own professional benefit.

Dehart hasn’t proven he can win the big games. With the talent King William has, the kids could coach themselves. Everyone on here is giving him credit for coaching just because he’s on the sidelines. Quite frankly, I think the JV coaches should take over coaching the varsity team. They’ve proven successful as a unit for several years. It’s time for Dehart to go!

Removing Dylan as the head coach is completely absurd. I grew up with Dylan and was his roommate when I was finishing up college. During that time Dylan was coaching and I got to see first hand how dedicated he is to his craft of coaching his players. During football season he would constantly be reviewing tape and working at making the team better in any way he possibly could. When most people would be taking it easy and taking time to rest he was working. Not only was he fully dedicated on the coaching aspect but he was truly dedicated to bonding with his players and helping them both on and off the field in any way shape or form they needed. Whoever made this decision needs to strongly reconsider their choice.

I am not sure what all has happened for this decision to be made. However, he is supportive to all students, has played a huge role in the community, and he is a great person that truly cares.

It seems like Coach DeHart has a lot of support in the community and is dearly loved by his players and parents. Perhaps King William should reconsider.
