Music is a part of almost everyone's life. Whether it be MP3's, radio, CDs, Pandora,....and has the ability to affect mood and disposition. Why remove something that touches almost everyone? Sometimes a song can lift you up when nothing else can!! And students whose talents are in music will have no vehicle to continue their craft after high school without the instruction coming first in HS. and, as has been preoved, music students score higher in core classes like math, english, science, and their college entrance exams. It makes no sense to eliminate choir because it helps students achieve better in other classes, and life too. And isn't that what school is for?

My daughter has been a part of choir for the past 6 years. She has learned so much from the program such as how to read music and sing well. More important that that is the confidence this program has given her. The arts are a very important part of a well rounded education.

I joined choir when I moved to Corydon in 7th grade (way back in 2000!) and was in choir all through junior high and high school, participating in the show choir in high school. I have always loved music and singing, and especially being new in junior high, it was great to be able to do something I loved and make new friends. Some of my favorite memories from high school are from choir- from our concerts to our competitions to our tours we used to do twice a year to nearby elementary schols and other venues. The arts are such an important part of education, and participating in choir helped me to not only develop skills in singing and dancing but also to gain confidence and make some great friendships. CCHS needs a choir program to allow students an opportunity to develop these skills through music!

Choir is very important! It encourages careers in the performing arts, as well as being a creative outlet for the students.

Taking music out of school will have a negative impact on our children. Choir is a great way to be involved with music if you don't play an instrument. This is ridiculous for it to even be a discussion!

When I was attending Charlestown High School, choir was one of the only things that kept me going day to day, the only thing that kept me interested in doing more in school than just the bare minimum needed to scrape by and pass. Taking away the arts, whether it's theater, choir, or fine art is a terrible mistake for any school to make.
Not everyone can be the next basketball star on the team or the star runner in track. Most kids who'd be effected by the decision to remove choir wouldn't want to take part in sports in that way, anyway, as not everyone is going to have an affinity, or even an ability, to play sports.
Everyone can find a place to belong in a choir. Everyone can benefit from the memory strengthening exercises, being surrounded by peers who only want to see you succeed, and the worldly view kids gain from learning different music styles and languages from pieces from around the world.
SUPPORT THE CHOIR IN CORYDON HIGH SCHOOL.

First I want to say how proud I am of Alex and all the past choir members of Mr Suddarth that have the maturity , courage and passion to stand UP and BEHIND a cause they believe in!The choir club taught team work , creativity, confidence and work ethics. The club and their parents did a lot of fund raising. It's not all about sports and the money that a club or activity can bring to the school. It seems the administration had a plan...cutting the director's time between 2 schools, not encouraging the arts. There would be more interest if it was promoted and encouraged ! Shame on you! what an example you are showing to our children..our future leaders.... What discrimination !!!!!

As a Corydon Central High School alumni, and a former member of the choir program, I believe this program should stay. All music programs enrich the lives and minds of the students.

I really enjoyed being a choir member in both Corydon Junior and Senior High. The arts are vital to all communities, but especially to smaller communities. This class and the corresponding competitions could broaden the horizons of some students that may never venture out of their small community.
