I grew up walking to this library every week, and now my toddler gets to enjoy the same. Libraries should never be the target of budget cuts!

Cherrydale Library is one of the better examples of successful Outreach by the Arlington Library System. Easy access and adequate parking allows patrons - especially older ones or those with young children - to check out books, dvds, and other materials quickly. It's presence also reflects fairness in the distribution of libraries within the County, putting 4 each in North and South Arlington. Lastly, if one of the goals of the library system is to encourage people to read and learn, then losing Cherrydale would do a great disservice to the community. Please keep it open.

Cherrydale library was one of the reasons we chose to live in Arlington! Walking to the library with our children with our library tote was an integral part of growing up. They can now walk to the library on their own and appreciate a new perspective as they engage with the library and our community as young adults. It may seem small but Cherrydale library has always and will always have an enormous impact on our community. Now is certainly not the time to decrease access to knowledge through books or to decrease the sense of community. Thank you for your time and consideration.

We are overwhelmingly tired of the county’s misdirected efforts to cut very needed services for neighborhoods in favor of marginal (if that) notional gains. Those library is a safe haven for children attending the nearby middle school and using the bus stops. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again - stop threatening our safe spaces and commercializing everything that makes a community enjoyable.

i’ve been going to the library since I was 2. It is a loved part of the community where many elementary school students who live within walking distance go for magic shows or to read with their family. It’s a great place for middle schoolers to go after school, only a block away, to study with their friends, and it promotes academic success. cherrydale library is an important part of our neighborhood, and it needs to say.
