Keep bruin block. How we are we going to keep our grades up if we can’t meet with teachers?

I have two students at BHS, one in 11th grade and one in 9th grade. I think it's important for our kids to have the opportunity to met with teachers and use the extra time for homework or make-up work. I also think that it's important for children to have social time as well. So even if they don't use it everyday for work, it's important to give them a break and be able to socialize.

Bruin block has helped me tremendously with my classes, be it getting homework done for later or being able to easily set times to talk with teachers. Bruin block was an excellent idea and taking it away would be a horrible disservice to other students.

Bruin block is a super beneficial period in a school day. It allowed me to make up assignments that I couldn’t come after school for due to work

Being apart of the beginning and sophomore year of Bruin Block (class of ‘18), I could not tell you how much of a godsend that Bruin Block really was. From getting homework done early, since I had an evening job, to making up tests, since I couldn’t stay after school, to even just having a casual period of time to mellow out and prep for the latter half of my days, Bruin Block was a tremendous help in keeping me mentally focused, as well as less stressed, when it came to doing school work. Getting rid of Bruin Block would not only infuriate students, but would also stress them out, as well as fellow teachers, who would have to stay after school for longer periods of time and could make their job more stressful than it already is. I really hope Bruin Block is here to stay for future classes of the school, as it is a major benefit of going to BHS, and will help students do better overall. Isn’t that what a school would want, anyways?

Kids need all the help they can get. Why short change their opportunity to learn and succeed?

I think the Bruin Block should remain in place. As a mom to a soon to be 8h trader who will be attending Broadneck in the fall of 2020, I know first hand that such an opportunity is invaluable. My son has used Marlin Block this year and it has helped him tremendously stay on top of assignments and speak with teachers about any issues he may be having with his classes. It would be a huge disservice to take this program away from the high school students.

It is very helpful and just because some people don’t use it right doesn’t mean it should be taken away.

Bruin block is such a helpful thing for those who need the help but can’t go after school for whatever reason, grades will plummet if there’s no bruin block due to people not being able to get help they require.
