Not gritting our local roads will mean most of the Stannington kids not getting to Bradfield school. Are we not bothered about school attendance anymore?

I have great concerns the lack of gritting could lead to a terrible accident on the roads. Also the impact on congestion at Malin Bridge will be considerable, where already air pollution is a concern.

Not gritting the roads around Stannington & Bradfield will seriously impact on school attendance. Councils keep telling us how important attending school is (which I agree) so why would you jeopardise this!

By not continuing the current gritting programme you will potentially cause the school my children attend to have increased closures and late starts due to inclement weather. My daughter is about to start her final GCSE year and I do not want her grades to suffer due to inability to attend school. By only gritting main routes you will divert all traffic onto main routes and further increase traffic congestion. Please reconsider this proposal.

during winter 2011 and 2012 my daughter was absent from school due to the school bus not being able to get to Dungworth. This was with the roads being gritted. If the roads are not gritted then she could miss 2 or 3 weeks from school if the village becomes cut off.

if rural roads are not gritted more pressure will be put on main roads at malign bridge, already very busy at peak travel times.

There is saving money and then there's being down right stupid, not gritting the roads around Bradfield school is down right ridiculous, but then again it is Sheffield city council we are talking about, so why should I be surprised?

Scandalous . Our council taxes are paid just like everyone else's and this entitles us to the services we expect. Do the council not think there are any commuters who live in this neck of the woods and have to get to work ??

This short sighted move will cost a lot more than it will save. It will effect school attendance, work attendance and increase accidents. Not sensible. Foolish.

I think gritting the roads is essential for safety, and the roads surrounding Bradfield High school are so busy and will be particularly dangerous due to the newly re-surfaced nature of them making them more slippery in slight frost or snowy conditions.

To endanger the travel of both children and parents on their journey to school by reducing the routes by which to grit during winter months is a disgraceful act by Sheffield City Council. I appreciate cost is paramount in considerations when deciding budgets and cuts but essentially the workfare of our children as they travel to school are being made hazardous. My daughter with learning disabilities journeys to Bradfield School and I am hugely concerned how this will impact on her ability to negotiate a dangerous situation in show in snow

Save money for the sake of putting lives at risk in rural communities. To reduce grtting on rural routes would be the lesser of two evils and, given the need to make further savings, could be almost justified. However, to cut it completely is unjustifiable, places those residents in such communities at a greater risk (they still have to go to work, have children who need to go to school etc.,). This action, if carried out, sends the message from Sheffield Council that if you live in a rural community your safety is not important. In fact, residents of rural communities in Sheffield are just not that important to the council (except when it comes to elections!)

the area around bradfield/oughtibridge is one of the steepest and more remote areas of sheffield. it is imperative that our roads are gritted to allow us all access to school and work
