As an Eagle Scout I hope that I and other Eagles will band together to make the BSA reverse its decision.

I didn't come to this decision lightly, but places where boys can just be boys, and have unsteuctured time, and do things that women probably wouldn't allow. They need that time, and to be guided on their path towards manhood by men who understand the importance and meaning behind the scout law and oath. If you take boy scouts away, honestly, where will these activities, crucial to ensuring boys grow into gentlemen, happen? Who will give them unstructures time in the woods? With knives, and axes, and other tools that, prior to earning their totin' chip, were forbidden to them? Who will teach them fire safety, by letting them start fires? And play with fire? And learn of it's awesome power firsthand? Same goes for a myriad of things. Women were an important part of my scout experience. They were on the troop committee, and sat in on meetings occasionally. My mom remembers the first day she dropped me off for scouts, and was greeted by the SPL. After looking around, and some polite chit chat, she asked "Who's in charge in here?" His reply: "I am, ma'am." As nervous as she was, she left me there, and never had reason to look back. Chuck B. Very disappointed in you BSA. Im an Eagle Scout who feels slighted that you would open up this to girls.... The girls have their billion dollar Girl Scouts and the corporate conglomerate cookie empire. Leave our scouts alone. You won't get any more funding from my family until this goes back to a young men only organization.

I was a boy scout for many years and this is not what the program is about. Boy scouts is for boys becoming men.

It’s called the BOY SCOUTS for a reason. Keep boys in Boy Scouts and girls in Girl Scouts. If girls want to do for Boy Scout like activities then they should add those to the Girl Scouts.
