Extremely important skill for children to learn. I believe it to be a facility that currently puts BCPS ahead of many other schools in the area, it would be such a shame to loose it!

I agree it should be all year round however, if people do not pay then that is their choice but unfortunately all children are now going to suffer. I pay termly and it frustrates me that others do not pay but, I do not feel that I should pay for other children. If it was set up as a pay as you go system (I know this will upset people, but it is just MY opinion and for those that are on benefits etc have a different option) then it may make the 50% of parents that don't pay for their children cough up the £2 a week to keep the pool running. I know this will segregate those children whose parents are simply relying on others to keep the pool running but, it is a vital part of the curriculum and should be offered annually.

My son has school and private lessons at the school so i use the pool asuch as I can I do think the pool should open in the holidays and in evening's like southminster does.x

Nobody will know what each individual persons reasons for not contributing towards the swimming pool costs are and it's difficult to speculate the reasons. Plus it's not right to ask people their reasons why. I would still like to see all year round swimming and if it were to be stopped then it should be from when the new year starts as my son starts there this September and will have had four lessons when it will then be stopped till the following year and he won't understand that.

Was shocked that only 50% of parents contribute to cost of swimming lessons!
Couldn't there be an "opt out" for parents who do not want their children to swim during winter months?
There must be some way to save swimming lessons all year round?
So important for children's learning & development!

I love that my son can swim all year round, we live in an area surrounded by water it's a must for our children to learn to swim,just wished all parents would pay for the privilege our children get £2 a week is nothing.

Completely agree with all points. All round swimming is an enormous part if the reason I sent my son there in the first place. The opportunity to learn life saving skills and also the regular exercise is not one you get at many schools. I was brought up in London and lots if the kids there free up with a fear or dislike of the water as they never had an opportunity to go swimming on a regular basis until they were 8 years old. Unfortunately some people do not realise just what a great opportunity this is for there children and how rare it is in the education system.
