I am in complete agreement. As a parent that pays for the swimming, I don't want the pool to close during winter.

Having spent 6yrs as Volunteer Press Officer for Burnham RNLI I have seen (and had to report on) the devastating consequences that drowning can have on a family. Teaching our children to swim is not only beneficial for their day to day health but is also a vital life skill they will have for the rest of their lives and could end up saving their life one day. £2 a week to ensure your child is skilled for life is a tiny price to pay compared to the devastation not paying for that skill could bring.

My son attends Burnham School and loves his swimming lessons all year round. I think the small amount they request from parents to fund this important education in swimming is worth every penny to know I am keeping my son safe around water.

It's such a privilege to have a school where our children can swim all year round. It would be a shame for the parents who do not pay for swimming to disadvantage the ones who do!
