It has existed in the Pensacola community since 1949. We must not let the minority dictate to the majority. Over 70% of Americans identify with Christianity. Let's send a message loud and clear! The cross is a historic part of East Hill & Pensacola, like the tree tunnel,like the train trestle.I believe an overwhelming majority of the community wants the cross to stay. It's a shame a very few people can impose their will on so many because they can not coexist. I will stand for what I believe.
From what I understand, it was the people, not the government to put up the cross. We need to quit erasing history just because it does not agree with the beliefs of others. Leave the cross where it is.
The Cross should stand~! If the outsiders that want it down are peeved that it's on public land... then an obvious solution is to lease the land to a private organization or group...
Keep the cross as it is a mix of the national heritage of this area. It is symbolic in design of the Spanish influence in our area. It was in honor of an individual however the design elements were in honor of our history.
I am a life long resident of Pensacola, only 34 but planning on hanging around a bit long (ok, a lot longer). I love this cross being there. Though I am a lesbian, and have been discriminated again most in this faith, I find comfort in the cross being there

I am appalled that they want to remove this cross without any constitutional basis. This is a lovely cross that is there for 60 yrs. People visit the site with flowers at the cross to remember Memorial and Veterans day in honor of lost ones who sacrificed their lives. Please do not remove this cross.
