I live this garden and have for years, from the help they gave us when we had our garden on communipaw ave as well as the service the continue to do for the community. To take away a person’s livelihood is akin to killing him. Don’t take away the livelihood of these ppl. Or the surrounding community.

The Astor garden provides food and other viable resources for the community. This Garden should remain open and continue the good work that has been occurring for the past 15 years. Why do you need to shut the Garden down during the Pandemic.
Recently, I have observed that stores to have bare shelves. people are unable to find food for their families; in addition the food in stores have triple in prices therefore, the average citizens are unable to afford for their family. The Garden offer them the opportunity to supplement their food supply.
The Garden is viewed as a Oasis for the community. This area was a blighted area prior to the Garden with drugs activities and drug paraphernalia strewn through the grounds, as well as wild animals and animal carcass.
Keep the Garden open!!!!

Anonymous,
why hide your name, and why disrespect others? If you don't need the food, mind your business, and move on. Notice you are alone in your selfish rant.
The rest of the world is in the middle of a Pandemic trying to live and feed their families. Get a life and leave these people alone. They are feeding large numbers of families every week.
This sound like jealously these are fine caring people.
If you are blessed not to need help in this pandemic, remember many others need their love, help and prayers. People are dying and starving.
Hurt people , hurt people Grow up!

The Astor Place Community Garden has become an essential part of the Jersey City community! Now more than ever the opening of The Garden is needed. This Garden shines the light of possibilities for the future of our children and makes healthy living attainable for people of all backgrounds. The Garden does not only provide for those in need, it unites us for something greater.
