Re-open Astor Community Garden and the BITE Food Pantry

Keep The Astor Place Community Garden open to the community as it has provided a vocational, nurturing, and inclusive space for all in the Jersey City neighborhood. It is imperative that children can witness and be a part of the change for future generations.

Our community is hurting enough with all the other challenges the world is throwing at them. Why take away food from there table? On Saturday I was in line for soup at a restaurant in Journal Square. An older frail lady was in front of me and only wanted a small soup and was told it was $5. She walked away so disappointed because she couldn't afford it. This is what we are facing in our community. Whomever made this decision to cut this program please reconsider. There are other ways you can fit this in the budget. We need to lead by example to the generations after us or we will reap what we sow. One day when we are old we will have one of those we helped pushing our wheelchair. That is how the world works.

Our communities are desperate and will bring chaos into the city when there isn't support. Reverend Bland is a beacon to the city that has a heart for the people of Jersey City

Shocked to see this was closed. This has been a gift to our community for so long, why was it necessary to close it down? Living food like healthy produce and fresh vegetables are practically impossible to obtain when you're poor, the community seriously needs this reinstated., now more than ever.

This Community service helped me so much. I was emotionally touch by both people...when I was hungry....I knew I could food from this garden.....best thing that's ever happened to this community

Never in my life would I have thought of this beautiful garden being shut down. It shocks me to see it closed down. I hope whoever shut this garden down gets some sense in their head because whoever they are they don't know who they are messing with.
